DNA reports it here: http://www.dnaindia.com/entertainment/1832598/report-dhrupad-maestro-ustad-zia-fariduddin-dagar-dies

Its careless use of "Zia" disturbs.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Always loved his music. The world has lost a great musician. Had the pleasure of listening to him with Uday Bhawalkarji when I was in India a few years ago...

Don't these folks know that 'Zia' was merely a patronymic, not Ustad's name?
A (predictably) better written tribute at the Hindu, though still limited in its sources:

IMO Chhote Ustad, God bless his soul, was one of the last few who genuinely deserved the honorific 'Ustad'. Few contemporaries can boast of as accomplished a lineage of disciples.

This sets me wondering. Uday Bhawalkar is getting a little old. Gundecha Bandhu is getting old. What kind of newcomer would keep Dagarwani Dhrupad going for another generation to cherish?
