Thanks.
Oopalie Operajita
I remember just a few lines..
Eppadi Padinaro, Appadi Padanan Aasai Konden Shivane
(As they sang so also I desire to sing oh Lord Shiva)
Apparum Sundararum Arudai Pillaiyum
Arul mani Vachakarum Porul unarndu unnaye
(gives the names of the all the singers - (Appar Sundarar etc)
Porul Unarndu Unnaye - By understanding the essense)
Cannot remember anymore..
Something with Arunagirinadar I think..
: Thanks.

I desire to sing of you oh Siva, in the way your devotees (adiyaar) sang
apparum sundhararum aaludaip pillaiyum
arul manivaasagarum porulunarndhae unnaiyae (eppadip)
(As) (the saints) Appar, Sundararar, Aaludaippillai and manivasagar sang of
you with knowledge and understanding
- commentary on
manivaasagar is a reference to Maanikkavasagar, a great Tamil poet
the tamil word ' porulunarndu' is literally translated as 'knowing the
meaning'. It is also used here, in the context of saints, to indicate
knowledge of the Truth (Brahman)
- commentary off
gurumani sankararum arumaith thaayumaanaarum
arunagiri naadharum arutjodhi vallalum
karunaik kadal perugi kaadhalinaal urugi
kanith thamizhch chollinaal inidhunai anudhinam (eppadip)
(As) the great teacher Sankara , dear Thaayumaanavar, Arunagirinathar and
ArulJyoti Vallal (a reference to the poet commonly known as Vallalaar),
their oceans of compassion overflowing (karunaik kadal perugi ), melting in
their love for you(kaadhalinaal urugi), (sang of you) sweetly (inidhunai)
each day (anudhinam) in chaste tamil words (kannith thamizh chollinaal)
- commentary on
Beautiful words, but to my knowledge there is no work of Sankara in Tamil.
So why is Gurumani Sankarar singing in Kannith Tamizh Chol? :-)
- commentary off
