A vivadi raga in which both Shatsruti Dha and Kakali ni occur.

A raga that shines in madhyamakala sanchara
(B. Subbar Rao notes that in the Hamsanada as rendered at present,
the Shatsruti Dha is not used.
(sa ri ma pa ni sa -- sa ni pa ma ri sa);
even in this simplified form, it is very pleasing.
Subbarama Dikshitar has never discussed Hamsanadham. He only gives
Nishadam as Mela No. 60 (asampoorna paddhathi). Perhaps Muthuswami
Dikshitar was never aware of Hamsanadam.
