There is a beautiful book called "The Spiritual Heritage of
Tyagaraja" published by RK Mission, Madras that gives the text in
Devanagari and meanings in English of almost all of Thyagaraja's
keertanams, with nice commentaries provided in the beginning of the
book. I would recommend the book to everyone with some interest in
the saint-composer. The book costs Rs. 50 or 60 if bought in Madras.
I remember reading about a source for it in the USA.

While we are at it, why don't we compile a list of books on
carnatic composers? We could have a category for books that list their
compositions with meanings/swara notations in various languages,
another for biographies of the composers, yet another for commentaries
on them, etc. Such a list can get into the FAQ list also.

I will give the sahityam of "Nagumomu" in Abheri anyway.

Nagumomu
--------

rAgam: Abheri tALam: Adi

Pallavi:

nagumomu kanalEni nA jAli telisi
nannu brOva rAdA ? Sree raghuvarA nee (nagumomu)

Anupallavi:

nagarAjadhara needu parivAramella
Ogi bOdhana cesevAralugarE itilundedarE nee (nagumomu)

CaraNam:

KhagarAju nee yAnati vini vEga calanETo?
gaganAniki ilaku bahudUram bani naTo?
JagamElla paramAtmA, evarito nA moraliTudu?
vaga cUpaku tAlanu nannelu kOra, tyAgarajanuta nee (nagumomu)

P. S. :-

I have heard someone (I suspect BAlamuraLeekriShNa) singing
a song starting with "Nagumomu kanaleni" in MadhyamAvati. Does anyone
know the details of that song?

That song, I think, doesn't start as ' Nagumomu Kanaleni', but it does
start with 'Nagumomu'. The song is in the cassette, 'Utsava Sampradaya
Krithis (of Saint Tyagaraja)'. All the songs in the cassette are sung
by Sangeetha Kalanidhi Maharajapuram Santhanam.
