What is the Raag of the famous, beautiful old song "Nain so nain nahi
milao" in Jhank jhank payal baaje? It is a duet by Lata and Hemant kumar.

Thanks a lot.

In some phrases, it resembles Bhageswari but I am not sure.

Thanks.

It is malgunji. I had asked this question a long
time ago. Do a google groups search in rec.music.indian.classical
for
malgunji nain so nain
and you will see the full clarification in that thread.

Yours truly,

Kumar

Thanks a lot. Actually I did a search for "nain so nain" etc. in google
first. But could not get any raag. I'll try again as you said.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

After searching google-groups' archives for "malgunji nain so
nain", try one more search for "not malgunji nain so nain".
Do not use quotation marks in the search-string.

Please check parrikar.org for detailed discussion on Malgunji esp views of 'Ramrang'...he clarifies that it has
chalan of Khamaj in arohi and shades of Bageshri and of Gara. Nain so nain is closest to Malgunji.

It employs Shuddha Gandhar also. It more resembles to Raga Malgunji.

It is indeed Malgunji - Bageshri with shuddha gandhar added, though it may not adhere to the grammar strictly. The words are a mix of Hindi and some Northern Indian dialect like Bhojpuri..

Language is brij not bhojpuri
Brij is spoken in western UP. Bhojpuri is spoken in eastern UP and Bihar.
