SRI HARIDASA SAMKIRTHANAMS
****************************

Part I : SRI VISHNU SAHASRA NAMA SAMKIRTHANAMS
Part II: SRI HARIDASA PADAMS
AUTHOR: SISTLA SREE RAMA CHANDRA MURTY
OTTAWA, CANADA
MUSIC: Dr. M. BALAMURALI KRISHNA
(Sri Vishnu Sahasra Nama Samkirthanams)

Sri Sistla Sree Rama Chandra Murty, a native of North America (Canada)
for the last 20 years composed Sri Haridasa Samkirthanams by God's
Grace. By profession, he is neither a musician nor a poet, but a
senior systems engineer in Ottawa. By a sheer luck and God's Grace,
these lyrics (pearls with gold lininig) were composed (it's what he
says. He is modest.)

Sri Haridasa Samkirthanams consist of 2 parts:
Part I: Sri Vishnu Sahasra Nama Samkirthanams, and
Part II: Sri Haridasa Padams.
They were composed by God's grace over a period, starting from May 1988
to 1 week of October, 1989. There are about 76 lyrics on Sri Haridasa
Padams and 924 lyrics on Sri Vishnu Sahasra Namams. Excepting a few
lyrics (earliest compositions), all the other compositions do carry
"MUDRA" namely Sri Haridasa.

The meanings of the Sri Vishnu Sahasra Namams are encapsulated in the
lyrics called Sri Vishnu Sahasra Nama Samkirthanams. The Sri Haridasa
Padams are a set of devotional lyrics. The Sri Haridasa Samkirthanams
can be sung in different "Ragas" depending on the "Manodharma" (on the
moods) of different singers. These lyrics were published in North
America (Canada) using the desk top publishing package developed by a
good friend of Sistla, Dr. Tirumala Krishna Desikachary of Canada,
which are in Telugu. These lyrics were printed in Vijayawada in a book
form which are available to the public. Vishnu Sahasra Nama
Samkirthanams were taped by Dr. M. BALAMURALI KRISHNA as 3 casettes
which were released formally on January 5th, 1992, along with the book,
by Sri P.V.R.K. Prasad, IAS, Chairman, Port Trust, Visakhapatnam and by
Sri B.D. Jetti, former VICE-PRESIDENT of INDIA, on the eve of the 17th
Bharat Cultural Integration Committee celebrations conducted by T.V.K.
Sastry of Madras.

In Dec. 1991 and Jan. 1992, music concerts on Sri Haridasa
Samkirthanams were successfully conducted in Tirupati, Guntur,
Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, and Hyderabad.

This is my impression:

This is an extraordinary and marvellous piece of work by Dr. Sistla
Sree Rama Chandra Murty. One can easily smell Tyagaraja and Annamayya
in the lyrics created by Dr. Sistla. Yes! Certainly by God's Grace he
was able to generate such a divine collection of songs (you may call it
a collection of divine songs) for ordinary man struggling on this earth
in a muddle of filth, mental agony, torture, and sins. The depth of
philosophy Dr. Sistla touched to elevate the common souls through his
lyrics is an exceptional literary feat. There is no parallel to this
composition created by Dr. Sistla. THIS IS CERTAINLY A GARLAND OF
PEARLS - A PEARL GARLAND OF DEVOTIONAL SONGS, CREATED AND ASSEMBLED BY
DR. SISTLA.

Dr. MANGALAMPALLI BALAMURALI KRISHNA SANG THE VISHNU SAHASRA NAMA
SAMKIRTHANAMS. Balamurali's melodious voice is a gold lining to Dr.
Sistla's creation of pearl garland of lyrics. This is a mixture of
milk, honey, and sugar and nothing can beat the taste of this musical
rendering.

I strongly recommend (request) all the Carnatac music lovers
(musicians) to taste this extraordinary creation of Vishnu Sahasra Nama
Samkirthanams. This is a land-mark in the history of Carnatac music.
This is also an outstanding literary creation of this century in Telugu
literature.

From this time onwards, I am going to post the lyrics now and then.
Enjoy the first one below.
