Abdul Rehman Khan of patiala gharana

Can anybody give the details about the Abdul Rehman Khan(patiala
gharana),the ustad of Nirmla devi ?

Is he the same as abdul rehman khan (alias sureshbabu mane), the son
of U. abdul karim khan of kirana gharana ?

Does it prove that both these abdul rehman khans are not different &
the same personality ?

Also how the change in gharana & difference in singing style of
sureshbabu mane v/s nirmladevi,laxmishanker, afrozbanu be explained ?

he also taught parveen sultana, mahendra kapoor, maybe other playback
singers, was a formidable composer of thumris, (most, if not all of
the masterpieces on the lp's of laxmi shankar and nirmala devi,) and a
regular broadcaster on AIR (under the name a. r. kumar) . shobha gurtu
also sang his thumris. I suppose he is the most significant composer
of thumri since bindaddin. very sad that he is almost forgotten. james

Here is someone who can give you reasonable detail of Abdul Rehman khan of Patiala gharana. I am a disciple of Ustad Habib Khan Sahib son of Late Abdul Rehman Khan Sahib. Habib khan Sahib lives in Lahore. (There is another Abdul Rehman Khan of kirana gharana.) At partition all the family except Abdul Rehman Khan Sahib, moved to Lahore. Abdul Rehman Khan Sahib stayed in Bombay until his death on 17 May 1990. Among his disciples some illustrious names are Laxmi Shankar, Nirmal Devi, Mahinder Kapur, Manna Dey,Shobha Gurtey, Suda Malhotra, Parveen Sultana, Anwar Hussain, Suman Kalyanpur, composers Shankar Jai Kishan, Shamim alias Madhu Rani, Rajesh alias Rajab Ali Mama (son of Khan Sahib from his second wife. Muhammad Rafi the most extraordinary playback singer also learned from Khan Sahib from 1972 until 1977. Dr Asif Manzoor Lahore

No Sir, Ustad Abdul Rehman Khan Sahab belong to Patiala Gharana. Not only Nirmala Devi (Actor Gobinda's Mother), He taught Mohamaad Rafi. Manna Dey, Mahender Kapoor, Sudha Malhotra. In his lastdays he shifted to Delhi and Died Here. His son is Ustad Rajjab Ali Khan (Rajesh) his Mobile No. 9315515044. His Disciple in Delhi is Mr Bhupinder Pujji.
