Can anyone post the lyrics to Bade Ghulam Ali Khan's "Aaye Na
Balam?" A translation of those lyrics would also be greatly
appreciated. Thanks.

What I know:

Ka Karoon Sajni, Aaye Na Baalam
Tadpat Beeti Mori Un Bin Ratiyaan

Rovat-Rovat Kal Naahin Aaye
Nisdin Mohe Biraha Sataaye
Yaad Aavat Jab Unki Batiyaan

Corrections/additions? Also, did BGAK compose this or only popularize
this? I believe some folks also sing this and add in Urdu lines here
and there on occasion.

Just the first part, taken from some Audiorec sleeve notes (see below),
translation by Rupert Snell (caps are long vowels, I'll take the blame
for those )...

kA karun sajanI Aye nA bAlama
tarapata bItI morI una bina ratiyA

what should I do, dear friend. My lover has not come;
Wthout him I have been pining all night long.

Says here that it was composed by the Ustad.

Homage to Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan,
Ustad Munawar Ali Khan, Raza Ali Khan,

1989

Hang on, here is the next bit (I致e attempted the transliteration from
Devnagari
so there may be a few boo boos)...

rovat rovat kal nAhI Ave, taRap taRap mohe kal na Ave
nis din mohe birahA satAe, yAd Avat jab unkI batiyA

Weeping and weeping I find no rest, writhing and writhing no peace comes

night and day lovesickness torments me, whenever I think of his words.

What do you mean by Urdu line? The last line you have given
already has the word "yaad".

Maybe...I meant couplets (probably taken from famous poems and inserted
as contextually appropriate), which are sung in a more recitative
style. There are examples of others doing this in other thumris -
didn't Faiyaz Khan do this with his "Kahe Ko Jhooti" thumri?

What do you mean by "yaad" being in the last line?
