CNN-IBN reports with a full list of 109 recipients.

Incidentally, a few known names made it to lower two scaffolds of the
hierarchy. Buddhadev Dasgupta (4) gets Padma Bhushan. Z Fariduddin
Dagar (2), Shahid Parvez (6), and Gundecha Brothers (17) get Padma
Shree.

He should have turned down the Padma Vibhushan when he had the
chance. Look at how Pt. Buddhadev Dasgupta handled the matter!

Wikipedia entry on Pt Dsagupta (here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddhadev_Das_Gupta)
informs us:

"In 2011, Sarod maestro Buddhadeb Dasgupta, was offered the Padma
Shree by the government of India, but he turned it down saying "it was
far too late in the day".

In Jan 2012, he has been conferred with Padma Bhushan by Govt. of
India."

A pretty risky gambit. Vilayat Khan tried sulking too, and he got
nowhere for it.

Would SP be the first in the family to get a Padma award, then?

On a more serious note, I'm not much given to ruminating on the
appropriateness of specific investitures, but doling out the Padmashri
to an artiste of ZFD's seniority makes me wince. Getting an award the
same time as your students, one that the likes of even Mehmood
Dholpuri and that first-rate clown Ghulam Sadiq had bagged years ago -
a big no-no. Perhaps this was meant as just a face-saver, to clear the
decks so that the well-connected among his (ZMD's) students can aspire
to bigger and better things?

Sometimes, training potent students would be rewarding. Particularly
if one's vocal prowess is severely incapacitated to do the business on
its own.

However, the seniority bit has lost its edge over the time. Hasn't it?
