SRI VAYYANKARA S.R. MADHU - VOCAL

A young artist, SRI VAYYANKARA S.R. MADHU(SOODANAN)enthralled an audience
with his musical abilities while participating as a fourth grade student in
a competition at his school. The prodigy attracted the attention of
well-known musicians and a career in music emerged. Trained in the lineage
of Chembai Vaidyanatha Iyer and Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer by eminent
teachers as Sooranad Gangadharan, P.R. Kumara Kerala Varma (Principal, Sri
Swathi Thirunal Music College (SSTMC) and Palkulangara Ambika Devi, Madhu
also studied formally at the SSTMC in Thiruananthapuram. He brings out the
musical sensitivity and devotional fervor of Kirtans with clarity of
pronunciation. Madhu is a very sought after musician of Kerala.
EASWARA VARMA - VIOLIN

S. EASWARA VARMA is a young violinist trained at SSTMC and by Sri B. Sasi
Kumar and Chalakkudy N.S. Narayana Swamy. He has accompanied most of the
famous Carnatic Music Vocalists including T.N. Seshagopalan, Dr. S.
Ramanathan, Naively Santhanagopalan and K.J. Yesudas and has performed
extensively all over India. He is regular A.I.R. aritst. Prior to joining
the Faculty of SSTMC Varma was on the Staff at the Chembai Memorial Music
College at Palakkad and R.L.V. College of Music in Thripunithura.
MAVELIKARA RAJU - MRIDANGAM
(Recipient of the Laya Siromani Award)
MAVELIKARA RAJU is the disciple of Mavelikkara Krishnan Kutty, the leading
Mridangam player of his time. He has accompanied most of the leading
Karnatic artists of today and yesterday, has a fifty year history of
Mridangam performance privately and for the AIR. He has won many awards
nationally and state-wide.
ANIL KUMAR - GHATAM
(Sri Swathi Thirunal Music College)
Trained formally at the SSTMC, ANIL KUMAR is a Ghatam artist of renown and
accompanies famous musicians all over India. He makes regular appearances at
the All India Radio. He is also a well-trained vocalist with degrees from
SSTMC
NEYYATTINKARA KRISHNAN - MUKHERRSANKH
(Recipient of the Indira Gandhi Award)
A little instrument, MUKHERRSANKH, the clown among musical instruments, can
be a very treacherous one. If the player is not careful, he is sure to cut
his tongue. Krishnan is a disciple of the eminent Mukhersankhist T.P.
Venkatachalam Iyer. He regularly accompanies famous musicians such as
Yesudas, Seshagopalan, Dr. Omanakkutty , K.S. Gopalakrishnan and several
others. It is not often that a Mukhersankhist accompanies a group to the
United States. This will be a rare occasion and the audience also can learn
about the instrument from a master.
