I would like to know all the versions of raga Rageshri ( with its Aaroh
and Aavroh). After listening to some recordings, I noticed that some
artists hardly or donot use Shudha Ni in their raga dev. e.g. Vilayat
Khan while rag structure contains both Nis in theory.
Thank you all,
Aaroh

It says,
Aaroh - SG-mDNS'
Aavroh - S'nDmGRS or S'NDmGRS or S'NDnDmGRS
As I surely know, the Rageshree aav. has D m G m R S and not D m G R S.
Any Comments, ePandit Rajan ?

raamrang, in his abhinav geetaanjali (vol 2) llists the a:a as:

i believe this is how most people sing/play rageshri today. any comments
from the gunijans?
vimal.
Dear Alumni of the "I-have-never-seen-it-therefore-it-doesn't-exist" school,
The two-nishAd Rageshree is uncommon but not THAT uncommon.
Ratanjankar has a bandish or two with a subtle use of the
shuddha nishAd. Laxmanprasad Jaipurwale's compositions use
both the nishAds with abandon, and there's his wonderful
recording (which I don't have at the moment but will shortly).
On display now, a brief segment of Bismillah Khan's bi-nishAd
Rageshree. The higher shade of nishAd is taken in rather beautifully
in the opening line of the cheez (S R N' S). Occasionally he replaces
it with R n' S.

I wish you would be more circumspect. In the accompanying discussion
Jha-sahab also talks about the 'other' Rageshree.

ps: One type of Khambavati has resemblance (there are important
differences) to the 'unishAd' (n-type) Rageshree. See any
Atrauli-Jaipur rendition for an example.
I am sorry I asked u. It will never happen in future.

Maha
