are pleased to usher in the monsoons in Pune with "Malhar Darshan" a
vocal recital and dialogue with Dr. Vikas Kashalkar, one of the
eminent musicologists, and vocalist of the Gwalior Gharana. He will be
accompanied on the harmonium by Shri Pramod Marathe and on the Tabla
by Shri Parag Hirve. The concert is expected to start at around 6:15pm
IST on Fri, June 26, 2009.
The programme has been organised by Gaan Maitra, Pune. ShadjaMadhyam
plans to webcast the programme live.
Venue: Vishnu Vinayak Swaramandir, Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Shanivar
Peth, Pune

Is this radio designed to play only with IE? The site doesn't specify
anything but I have had no luck trying to listen to the radio with
either Safari or Firefox on Mac. (Have completed the registration and
have signed in, so that is not the problem.)

I have no problems with my FF 3.0.11 + McAfee anti virus. Did not have
to unblock pop ups or anything.
How do I find out details of what is being streamed? Heard two
versions of Shree but no idea who the singers are.

Right click on the player and click on play in real player option if
it shows and it will show you who is playing what. Also, just above
the radio channel links they have a link for schedule. Click on the
time of day and it will give you the details. It shows the track
details for me. I use IE7. Hope this helps.

The problem seems to be with FF or Safari *on a Mac*. I am not using
any firewall, not am I using a pop-up blocker. When I click on the
link that says "If you are in India Click Here", it opens a new
browser window, shows a player, but does nothing else. If I try to
click on the play button in the player, it brings up the text "-2048"
in the player progress bar area.
Has anyone else succeeded in connecting using a Mac? Do let me know
how!

Thanks, Akash for posting Dr.Kashalkar's announcement on rmic.
I will get somebody to check why the radio doesn't seem to play on
Macs. It works fine on IE and Mozilla Firefox. If you play it using
Realplayer, the name of the artiste and raag playing shows.
We have been struggling to make the ID3 tags (name of artiste and
song) visible on Windows Media Player, Winamp etc. and are still
trying.
Just to clarify, we do not play any commercially published recordings
on the radio, to stay on the right side of copyrights. We try to play
mostly what artistes themselves willingly offer.
You need to go through the simple registration process to listen to
the radio. The three streams (India, US and Europe) play raags as per
the time of the day in that time zone, approximately.

Thanks for the good work!
I have problems running it on Vista using Quicktime or WMP11 as
player. Both seem to hang up. Will try to figure out. But no problems
with Real player. Also I believe WMP does not permit ID3 tags on
streaming audio.

Tried it on the following:
1) Firefox/Vista - hangs
2) Google Chrome (installed as part of RealPlayer) doesn't work.
3) Works with RealPlayer on Vista

You are probably missing "Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin".
Under Firefox plugins check if you have something like it with a file
np-mswmp attached. If not download from here.

Hi - got the details of the accompanying artistes, just fyi:
Pt. Tulsidas Borkar is on the harmonium. Kedar Vaishampayan is on the
tabla, and Meera and Madhura Vaishampayan are on the tanpuras with
Smt. Bharati Vaishampayan. Kedar is her son and Meera and Madhura are
her daughters.
