MSIE start page help

so the start page on IE is changed to a porn site
i changed it back to the original one and it worked fine
until the comp was rebooted
then that porn site was back
so i fuck around iwth it for aw hile and finally check the registry
and basically everything in there relating to IE that could have a webpage
for the field value was set to that page
so i set everything to google.com
whcih worked
and then i rebooted
and its back to the fucking porn page!
any help in fixing this would be really apprecaited

and most importantly to stop this problem from happening in the future, stop

done done and done
still getting the fucking porn
i did a websearch and found one other thing that wouldve remotely helped
which said some website was using an activeX thing that took over your IE
and outlook and added a sig to all outgoign emails advertising itself
and told how to get rid of it
except it was control panel -> add/remove programs and remove the thing
and i went thru and theres nothing there that shouldnt be
it wouldnt even bother me that much but its a shitty porn site
and when my mom uses teh computer she's not too fond of seeing porn instead
of her usual homepage

since p2p filesharing came out
i havent gone to a porn site in ages
and i NEVER run activeX stuff unless its a site i know is safe (eg. yahoo or
ms) and have security set to ask everytime something tries to run
now i remember why when i first bought this comp i wasnt gonna let anyone
use it but myself

OK I've answered here, but I'll also post this in a new thread in case
you miss this...
Do a file search on your hard drive for files ending in an .hta
extension.
You should find one / some. Move these to another directory, reset
your browser homepage, and reboot.
Test. If all is well then leave these files here while you run your
system for a while (say a month or so). If after this time everything
is still good, and no other programs seem to be trying to use these
files for day to day use, the delete em (or you can keep em somewhere
safe - its up to you.)
