Yush,
Jus heard some new Tunes, an thought I'd put internet man an man up on
them.......
Be on the lookout soon for tunes by

Special Ed - Bwoy! this tune is the living bomb. The Tune I heard
called "Never Go Back" builds on the skills he displayed on Crooklyn,
wid an even more complicated flow, without sounding -too- off an on ya
get me.. The tune is on the downlow dat tape at the moment look for
the 12 towards the beginning of summer...

Erick Sermon - Bwoy... This man has gone way up in my estimation. I
thought his first solo effort was weak, annoying ryhmes and beats, But
his sophomore has all the funk like ya mamas armpit... If this don't
get Five Mics in The Source some man is gonna get brok up!!!!
The LP's called 'Double or Nothing', and standout cuts to check fe are

'Mind Games' - Featuring RedMan
'You're Welcome' - Feat Keith Murray

it should be out some time end of june/beginning of July.. ( maybe
earlier if we lucky!)

AZ - As featured on NAS's 'Lifes a Bitch'. Yes he does have the same
sort of Flow as NAS, but believe.. when you hear the tune 'World Don't
Stop' you will be picking up the Twelve..... No name of an album yet,
any of you New York headz got any info....?

Herb Mcgruff - guested on Big L's album, and has a phat promo floating
about called 'Palm on the Handle' which is well worth

Large Proffesor - ' Get off that Bullshit' - When is this tune gonna
drop ....!!!!????, Like mooky said 'Shit's calling me man!'

Also look out for a PHAT PHAT oldskool style tune on Jemini's album
set to drop in the next couple of weeks. It uses the Love Unlimited
'Strange Games and Things' break, and comes on with the old skool
rhymes believe.....

'We used to say iron now we say gat, we used to say funky fresh now we
say phat' - Jemini

Any man got any news on new Heiro or Pharcyde tunes ? From what I can
make out the new Pharcyde Joints have been produced by Premier,
Buckwild, and LA Jay. Be interesting to see if the album has a *flow*
(fits together, listen from start to finish with no fast forward - see
any tribe album, common sense, pharcyde first album) with the
different producers on the tracks.

I know I'm gonna set it off, but does anyone agree wid me that
Premier's production of late has been getting monotonous and boring ??
Seems to me he is using very short sample loops as compared with ting
he hooked for say 'Step In the Arena', where on tunes like 'check the
Technique' he was hooking a number of bars - it might be that these
short loops save on sample clearance problems? Anyway I don't doubt he
will be on point for any new Gangstarr tunes.....

YES! It's so nice to see someone that agrees with me on that shit! I
don't care what anyone says, I haven't really loved anything by Premier
since Step In the Arena. Daily Operation was off and on, a damn good
album, but as good as I would have expected from a producer that has so
many people on his nuts. Jeru's album was the same way. Hard To Earn?
I thought the beats on that were so weak! They were so damn monotonous.
Mass Appeal put me to sleep, it was like a lullaby! And I like
Showbiz's "Next Level" mix better than Primo's. I can't diss him,
though, because Step In the Arena is still all that. We'll see what he
does for the Pharcyde.

i don't want to diss premier, but both points raised are quite valid.
If i hear a cut nowadays i can pick out premier. He uses those short
samples or the blip sound as someone called it earlier. During the
chorus of any song he will either cut in the name of the artist or
the title of the song from another artist. When you start becoming
trademark, you start falling off. Brooklyn took it = unbelievable.

The same can be said for RZA, the soul assasins<although i hesistate to
put them in with hip hop, it's morelike suburban rap>, buckwild- daam remix,
mad izm remix, c'mon wit da get down remix; Salaam remi, and pete rock.

I like the unbelievable beat better, and actually I think it's kinda different
cause he PLAYS the beat rather than loops it (well he loops it but I think
the melody is his). Plus he scratches R.Kelly! Can't front on that.

i'm not really dissing premier or rza or buckwild, im just saying they
shouldn't be so predictable. On the subject of buckwild, with OC he
showed his versatility, all of his beats didn't sound like the remixes
he did for the artifacts, channel live, and the liks. Premier showed
a lot of variety on Gangstarr's album, lil dap's beat compared to mostly
the voice, but his trade mark seen on f.a.l.a you hear in the next level
remix, unbelievable, brooklyn took it , memory lane, and to some extent
the remix of peer pressure by mobb deep, represent, rugged neva smoov by
mop, and supa star. On the subject of unbelievable it sounds like
he is playing over the loop, and cutting in R. kelly deserves props.
But for premier or buckwild to show their true skills, it seems you have
to give a lot material at one time< perhaps an album> for them to come
correct. For singles his current style is alright, i'm just saying
when gangstarr drops album 5, the songs should have continuity like
common sense, but not all sound the same like craig mack. specifically
from premier, and in general from everyone else, i wanna hear more
scratching. Remember dj premier in deep concentration, every group
with a dj should give them a chance to show skills. what do you think
of the "new" producers out there, bird(Ras Kass), JZ (saafir), j-sw!ft
(pharcyde, now wascals) salaam remi(black sheep, da bush babees).

You just made my day! If you say the joint is the bomb...then I'm taking
your word for it. Is the beat butter or what? and how did you hear it?

I may be wrong here (it wouldn't be the first time) but didn't GURU
do f.a.l.a.??? I know he did some of the tracks on that record, and
for some reason I'm thinking that was one of them...

I think that premier's production has always had continuity, IMO
his greatest talent lies in matching beats to voices and flows...
you may be able to say that his stuff has a distinct sound, but
listen to the cuts he did for KRS, Nas, Jeru, and his cuts for Gang
Starr, all of them fit the mc really well... I mean, I don't think
anyone can say that jeru's cuts sounded like return of the boom-bap...

Bird - I really like his beats, they complement Ras nicely, especially
Won't Catch Me Runnin' and Etc. Etc.

Jay Zee - His beats are wack as hell. I think just about everyone
agrees with that. The beats on Boxcar Sessions are really muddy and
samples don't really sound right.

J-Swift - He's decent. His remix of "Manifest Destiny" by Urban
Thermodynamics was kind of weak though.

Saalam Remi - He's kind of unpredictable. I liked Without a Doubt
although lots of people didn't. His Bush Babees stuff was OK, his remix
of My Kung Fu by UTD was pretty slammin'. Definite potential.
