Now this really got me fired up. I got the Westside Connection LP,
and then on a cut that I found pretty good, I hear WC start dissin'
Q-Tip. Now that's just fucked up. Being that Q-Tip and Cube WERE cool
I don't know why Cube would let him dis Tip on a record that had Cube
on it, unless this East/West shit really faded him. So the list is
so far: King Sun, Volume 10, Cypress Hill, and Q-Tip?

Q-Tip appears on a mix tape hollering "West Coast niggas, I'ma bust yo'
shit" and now he's trying to patch it up by claiming he said "West Coast
*haters*" meaning he's gonna bust anybody who hates the West Coast.
Everybody knows that's bullshit because he's tight with Mobb Deep and them
kids got members in their crew hollering about "LA, LA". Q-Tip is on some
sheisty shit. How the fuck he gonna claim love on albums, appear with Del
and the Alkoholiks on cuts, then flip around and hop on the East/West
bandwagon. I remember hearing Tip distinctly say "west coast niggas" when
I heard the tape. I'm gonna dig it up and transcribe all of the lyrics.

If Tip did say that dumb shit - which was supposedly aimed at Abstract
Rude - then he loses all my respect and, yep, WC was right to dis him
back. Ab Rude ripped the shit out of Tip on this one track ("I'm From a
Wicked"?? was that the title? damn, i need that tape back).

Look at it like this. WC is a grow man. Cube can't tell WC what to do.
It's West Side Connection, not Ice Cube and the Posse. Everyone is equal
and can say whatever they want.

PS: Why was Tip's silly ass saying "we make moves, not movies" on the BR&L
L.P. when I saw him big as day in "Poetic Justice"? Peep the article on
Tribe in the latest issue of One Nut Magazine for an extensive article on
tribe's whole career which reveals how hypocritical those kids are. I

Well, my understanding is that "making movies" is a slang
term for folks who are talking a lot of unsubstantiated noise
(folks don't use it where I'm from, so corrections are welcome).

As such, it has nothing to do with actual film making.

If Tip's biggest vice is cussing when he said that he didn't, then
he's a lot better off then most artists out there.

You can't point to don't curse. Kool G Rap, BDK, and Puba was on there
also but I still hear them swearin'. I did, however, notice there wasn't
one swear word on "People's Instinctive travels...," some were edited out
on Low End Theory, less on Midnight Marauders, and only one songs (forget
which) on Beats, Rhymes, and Life. Tip has gone on record as saying that
now that he's a Muslim, he won't swear anymore. Strange, 'cause his
conversion to Islam wasn't long after Midnight Marauders, and on the
recent Smokin' Grooves Tour, he swore up a storm. well, no one's perfect.

Yep... perhaps there a chance that Tribe is _almost_ as hypocritical
as...well... pretty much every other emcee out there... ... might I mention
your own hypocritical tendencies Alan which (denie as you might) have
popped up through your theories. We're all human. We say thing at one
time, then change our mind's later, especially when we're youths and are
still trying to figure out where we stand on almost every issue. Hell, the
whole "teenage" "rebel without a cause" existance for most kids is
essentially a hypocritical one, if you see what I'm getting at. Q-tip was
not a wise old man already set in his beleifs and ways when he did that
song with Heavy D, he was young... very young, he still is young in many
respects. Times change, so do people, so do beleifs, so so ideas, on a
constant basis. So stop trying to catch every last emcee (ie Jeru) out
on every last incosistency in their subject matter over the years. Cube
is a hypcrite. Q_Tip, yes, but probabaly less so in my opinion.

BTW, I have a couple Q-tip freestyles, he don't cuss that much.....
I don't see what you mean there really either. But whatever....

Why were some edited out? Was that to reach a quota so that they didn't receive
the parental advisory sticker or something? Sometimes ATCQ will say BS or F so
they don't say bullshit or fuck. However, in concert they don't hold back at

I truly don't know. But, Midnight Maruaders (and I think Beats,
Rhymes...) didn't get a sticker either. That brings up the question:
what are explicit lyrics? Is it cursing or lyrics that could be
considered misogynist? racist? etc?

I mean based purely on what is said on records, not in their personal

what he said in another song?

Just a question to think about...

What Q-Tip is on a pedestal and can't/shouldn't be dissed? Do you think
Q-Tip is getting all heated over this as much as all these fans on the
internet? I doubt it. Likewise, I think Cube, WC and Wack-10 (see) can be
dissed too.

Does anyone have the actual mixtape in question where Tip ALLEGEDLY ran his
mouth about the West Coast? Get to the actual source instead of listening to
rumor and half-truths. Until I hear the tape myself (which I hope Cube, etc
did) then I can't pass judgement on Tip or Westside Connection. Xzibit even
did or planned a track dissing Tip about what he ALLEGEDLY said but then I
guess/heard that he squashed it after talking to Tip in person.

I interviewed Xzibit and he said no such thing. And we talked at length
about the Q-Tip "west coast ____" controversy. In the interview, however,
he said clearly that he does NOT dis people on records. Peep the man's

Thanks Alan,

I know I read that from a reliable source (not so after all, I can't even

ever had a Tip diss planned and he said no then you're right. I was wrong....

I kind of thought it was in reference to Tip's general dislike of
gangsta rap, with lines like "N*ggaz so hard it's a wonder they alive"
from THE SHOW soundtrack.

I think Westside Connection is tight fuck it. I don't know if they real
gangsters or not but they can rhyme. How many Gangsta Rappers do u
actually think are gangsters. The only rapper I can't stand is Dr. Dre.

I once knew this bitch by the name of Q-Tip
Who claim he had a problem with this gangsta shit
Behind closed doors, runnin his mouth like a trick and
Til this nigga bout the name of Dub caught him slippin
Tied his ass up and threw him in the truck
Put an apple in his mouth then dug his ass out
About a month later they found his body stashed
In a trash bag with a cucumber in his ass...

Cross em out with the rest of em
Wes side dump their ass
