Mostly because there are people who have had it drilled into their heads
that "business-friendly" is good while "people-friendly" is bad. This
whole notion that companies have a divine right to do business is a
direct result of the 50 year war on education the Republicans have
waged. People just don't know any better because they haven't been
taught any better. Companies do business only by the grace of the
people. And Government is supposed to represent the people, not the
corporations.

don't mind an insurance company denying
them a procedure but they worry about the government doing the same
thing.

the insurance companies that spent 263 million dollars this year to defeat it...
so imo if they were willing to spend that much money to defeat it, it couldve possibly

Blue Cross in Mass in still a non-profit. I had them for a while at an
old job and they were OK. The best health Insurance I ever had was
HealthNet back in the 80's - no co-pays at all, not even for
prescriptions (generics). However, by the mid-90's HealthNet had put on
co-pays as high as $20 for OV and $10 for generic Rx. Since then, I have
GIC (Group Insurance Commission, a state-run insurance program here in
Mass) and they were awesome. The co-pays were not too high and you could
self-refer to specialists so you could skip an OV with your PCP if you
needed to go directly say to an orthopedist.

It's human nature to attack the entity who is on top whether it be a person,
business or a county. The US is far from perfect, but I would say overall we
try to do the right thing. The world has an expectation of our country
during times of crisis or disaster. We carry a heavy burden. To not give any
credit to this country *ever* for anything is pretty dissapointing and
shortsided.

It's not even remotely close to the Massachusetts model. Not that our
system is all that great but when my friend lost his job 2 years ago he
was able to get decent coverage for his family of 5 through the
Connector. There is more that could be done here but we went from around
the middle in terms of percentage uncovered to where we are now the
lowest state in the nation. Do actually know anything about our law or
do you just regurgitate Fox News talking points?
BTW, the biggest problem with our law is that it was written by Mitt
Romney.
