How long has this tape taken? Let's put it this way...the first
ten minutes were finished back in FEBRUARY. I finally added the
last track this morning and then remastered the engineering
twice. However, most of the sh*t is fairly recent...with one or
two exceptions, most of this tape doesn't have sh*t that's way
played out...and even the older stuff is sh*t that was slept on
and most people wouldn't have heard of 'em anyway. Anyway,
here's the playlist (90 minutes total):

Side A: 4x4 Trackin...

Roots Live on KALX
Roots: Distortion to Static (Hip Hop remix)
Roots interlude
Phife: Intro for "Crazysexlcool"
The B.U.M.S. w/ Mystic: Lyfe N Tyme
Lord Digga: Feel It
Jay-Z: In My Lifetime (Big Jaz remix)
Big L: MVP (Summer Smooth remix)
Junior Mafia: Playa's Anthem (remix)
Slum Bros: Sureshot
Ase vs. Tamika Interlude
Aceyalone and Co: Feet Upon the TableBounty Killer: Celluar
Phone
Johnny Osbourne: Budy Bye (Kenny Dope remix)
Show and AG: Under Pressure
Da Mad Scientist: Never Fear
BIG: Gimme One More Chance (remix)
Busta Rhymes & Redman: The Points (Mista Lawnge remix)
The D.O.C. and the Doctor Interlude
Ras Kass & Key Kool: E=MC5
Madchild: Like a Tech ! Canada/Bay Area underground
Bored Stiff: Peaceful Rotation '92
Grand Puba w/ Sadat X: Play It Cool
Blackalicious: Rhymes for the Deaf, Dumb and Blind
Das Efx: Real Hip Hop (Premiere Mix)
Dereliks: I Am a Record

Side B: Best on the Left

Note: With the exception of ATCQ's sh*t (which couldn't make it
on Side A) this whole side showcases the some of the next school
of Left Coast hip hop. Almost all the below was from tapes so
don't expect much in terms of mixing, but DO expect to hear a
lot of incredible creativty skills, both musically and
lyrically. As the West Coast flows out of the post-Dre era of
hip hop, there's a lot of artists set to make people reconsider
what they think of the hip hop out of Cali and other points
West. Don't forget Bored Stiff and the Dereliks on the A-side
either. Contact info. is provided whenver possible. Don't sleep
on this sh*t...

Blackalicious: Changes (916-759-1304)
This track was only released in Japan and b/c Mo Wax
owns it...you'll never see it in the US...DJ Shadow produced it,
Gift of Gab on the rhyme.
Hobo Junction: Who Riden'
This is from a tape they've been selling on the
sidewalks of Oakland and Berkeley...good sh*t
ATCQ: Glamour and Glitz
The only good track on the Show soundtrack (apart from
"How High")
ATCQ: Mr. Incognto
I still don't understand why they didn't release it
DJ Shortkut-from a Q-Bert mix tape
No offense to Roc Raida, but this kid should've been
World Champ...we'll see this year
DJ Q-Bert-from the "Two New Dogs" soundtrack
Still the grandmaster...
Best of Hieros/Hobos-Casual/Saafir/Tajai/Saafir/Opio
For more flavor, get the whole battle (see below)
Ill Brothers Clique-from their unreleased demo (310-581-1922)
This LA group has got 'nuff flavor...
Mystik Journeymen feat. Crucial: I'll See Ya
This was taped in Holland...4 track is king!
Aceyalone: Over the Weekend
I'm not even sure this'll be on the LP, but peep it here..
Ghetto Children: I'm a MC (from "Untranslated Prescriptions")
(206-996-1220)
This is from Seattle's version of "Project Blowed" and
it'll definitely change your opinion about Seattle
Key Kool: Be a Hoodlum (from the LP "Kozmonautz")
Funny lyrics with a fat Vooodu! beat...
Homeliss Derelix: Critical Meltdown
Bay Area local group is definitely coming with some next sh*t.
Tony Da Skitzo: Molasses (619-560-2053)
San Diego representing? Yup...

Cost...hmm...how 'bout $7? I'm not looking to make a
killing... The only thing is: you have to reserve a tape by
emailing me first. Sorry, but I made a big mistake when I
offered the Hobo/Hiero tape b/c I was unprepared for the deluge
of tapes I got from people. I'm just short on time so I'll
probably offer tapes to the first ten people or so (assuming
that many people are even interested). BTW, I'd rather not f-
with international postage if I can help it so if you're from
outside the US and you want a tape, you might want to find
someone to act as a middleman. Sorry, but I hate trips to the
post office and int'l mail is $$$.

Oh yeah...if anyone wants the complete Hobo vs. Hiero battle,
I'm offering them again. Cost is $5 but you have to supply your
own 100 minute tape. The battle itself is almost 50 minutes so
you'll get back your side B blank. The main reason I need
people to supply their own tape is b/c I'm trying to stick with
90 minute tapes. Again, if you want one, reserve with me on
email first.

I might also be offering a Solesides tape that has all of
Melodica, almost all of DJ Shadow's stuff (except for his most
recent single) and some unreleased stuff too. Look for a notice
here or definitely check my homepage site for mix tapes:
http://www.igc.apc.org/ollie/tapes.html

Lastly, I might as well offer one more tape I made...a party
tape for a friend of mine who wanted something to dance to. I'm
a little embarassed by it, but on the flip side, it's one of my
best mix efforts ever. Call it "Commercial...never
controversial" but it'll move the crowd at a party. Email me if
you're interested in a playlist or just check my homepage.
Again, this tape will go for $5 if you supply your own tape.

BTW, anyone interested in O's Dub Vol I or II...don't bother.
I'm just fairly embarassed by their lack of quality in terms of
mixing and creativity so I'm burying them in the vault.

Remember, I update my mix tapes homepage whenever I get new
tapes in... If you have a tape that you'd like to have posted,
send it to me at:
18 de Boom
SF CA 94107
(make sure you include a playlist!)

Peace,

O-D.U.B.
