Freaks Come Out At Night question

You know. The Whodini classic.

I remember when I first tried to decipher the song
(a long time ago) I assumed that they meant females
and males. Nowadays I'm pretty sure they're talking
about females only, but is there any possibility that the
term freaks in that song includes both genders?

Or more generally, when freak is used to describe a
sexually promiscuous person is it applied to women
in the majority of the cases?

Havent heard the song/paid attention to the lyrics in ages, but
probably no.

Females! but, they do word is non-sexually at times in the song,
don't they? "might not know they're a freak unless you see them at
night.." could've been said gender-specific
