I'm listening to All from the I (County Jail) and they are so much more
convincing that they are tough and know what they're talking about than
50 Cent is.

It doesn't matter if they are or not, they just sound right.

all that new age NYC thug rap does not sound right.

It also doesn't sound very convincing or sincere. It sounds very
theatrical. Even that, in and of itself, is not why it's bad though.
efil4zaggin was theatrical, but it was 'good' theatrical.

These clowns are 'bad' theatrical.

and stop calling girls 'ma'. that's not your mother, is it.

New York City, in my view, has lost its' title as the "Hip Hop Mecca" in
the mid-90s when Death Row Records had a chokehold on the industry. I
believe that the underground is still solid, but in the main, gangsta
rap is what's selling and agreed---it's bad. The straight bible for
gangsta rap, without dispute, is either "Straight Outta Compton" or
"Efif4zaggin"---everything after is a bad facsimile. I mean, it's hard
to take seriously Style P. or Jim Jones as being hard core. So-called
gangsta rap is really a minstrel show for the mainstream.

There's a thread here, because Tracy Morrow said he got the delivery for
'Rhyme Pays' (the song) from...'Saturday Night' (the song).

Never heard that one, but Saturday Night is ingrained in my brain more
clearly than Rhyme Pays, due to my watching 'King of New York' 57 times
and counting..

As you know (but others reading may not) he quite clearly got the
cadence of 6 In The Morning from listening to PSK. Which in turn
inspired the 'Boys In The Hood' and the subsequent Gangsta rap
explosion.

I don't guess you happened to catch Schoolly and Code Money on the Morton
Downey, Jr. Show, back in the days?

He did a really fast "Treacherous" over a James Brown loop.

Twas dope.

Never saw that, but I did love to hate the Morton Downy Jr. show, he's
the first guy I recall making me want to shoot up a TV like Elvis.

(which beats wanting to shoot up speedballs like Elvis..)

Damn, G. You mean you don't have "Morton Downey, Jr. Sings!"? It's
screaming to be sampled.

"Hey there, Mr. Dealer
You drug pushing son of a bitch
Messin' up the minds of America's youth
Just to make your fat ass rich
You're the scumbag of the country
The one that we hate most
You scum suckin', drug pushin' son of a bitch
I hope that you die slow

So take your drugs and shove 'em
We've had our fill of 'em
We won't rest till your ass is on death row
And your epitaph will read
'Here Lies A Man of Greed'
You scum suckin', drug pushin' son of a bitch
I hope that you die slow"

Lovingly hand-typed from memory.

An "aside"...Morton Downey Jr. was the forerunner of Jerry Springer,
Richard Bey, and Charles Perez. Great quality talk shows in my view.

The War on Some Drugs is nothing more than making scapegoats for the
government to asset loot. Hitler did it to the Jews and Homosexuals.
