Is your other half (Woman/Man/Animal) into hip hop or is it a cause of
argument?

I'm quite lucky the longer my gf stays with me the more she gets into it .

Not really into it, but she'll say if she likes something, i think she
mostly
listens to the beats and the r&b/soul hooks.

If I don't listen to music, i'll get irritated and start snapping so there's
no argument there.

Luckily, this is the first man I've ever been with who actually loves and
lives for hip-hop. Before, it was the cause of many endless arguments with
my exes, cos they all HATED it.
This one is the "head", as you like to say it.
He's been born and has lived with it all his life.

My girlfriend is 40, she's with that "Earth, Wind, & Fire" crowd, late
70s/early 80s. She's not as immersed as I am, but the
"gangsta/bling-bling" stuff she isn't with because of songs like
"Apache" and "Five Minutes Of Funk". She likes the hook for Juvenile's
"Slow Motion" and the remix to the Clipse's "Grindin". Actually, like a
lot of women, it's the beat that gets her. Like myself, she doesn't like
Jigga-boo/Eminem/50 Cent at all. She's more tolerant with radio than I
am. Overall she doesn't argue, and actually has questions for me about
Hip Hop. She loves Slug and Immortal Technique. She wants to go to a
Jedi Mind Tricks show, but is hesistant because she'll have to stand for
so long. I'm telling her that this isn't a show in Atlantic City, we
stand at Hip Hop venues.

She has a mortgage, while I have an apartment. But I'm over there all
the time, and when she comes here, I bang it. But we also like Gary
Taylor, Will Downing, Maysa, and Paul Hardcastle. We do the EWF thing
when she's feeling that.

She doesn't like it but there's a couple things here and there. She
even knows some Doom lyrics since she's heard them so many times. I'm
always proud when she busts out the chorus right before it plays.

My wife's CDs include Beastie Boys, DMX, Eminem, KRS One, Mystikal,
Nelly, and Trick Daddy.

So yeah, she's into it, I suppose...

She's taken to digging through my CD collection for "stuff she heard
growing up. but forgot about".

actually she bought me "from her mama" and "back dat azz up" as part of my
birthday present last year. weird.

anyways, she's down with some rap. she goes thru phases. all she listens to
now is The Shins.

Nope. We listen to pretty much the same music. He's a little more
into the gangsta stuff (Ice Cube, Scarface, QB thug rap) while I tend
to be a little more into the lighter stuff (Nelly, Roots, Fat Joe,
Kanye West). Any argument is usually over who stole who's cd and
didn't give it back.

she likes the atcq-ish type stuff. not really into hardcore so much
but she likes ODB and some wu tang, some nas etc etc. we hooked up
becuase we were into the same music so i knew i was on a fairly safe
bet. the arguments stem more from me going out to clubs or being in my
room on my decks a lot, not from being forceed to listen to the music
per se.

She's not "into it" as I am. But she understands and respects it.
She listens to the radio moreso out of habit. I'm the one who listens
to everything, she listens to mostly older r&b (older being from our
time-- late 80s, early 90s) and older gospel (80s).
