"Effective February 15, 2024, Google Groups will no longer support new Usenet content. Posting and subscribing will be disallowed, and new content from Usenet peers will not appear. Viewing and searching of historical data will still be supported as it is done today."

Thank God! I hope this FINALLY pushes the few legitimate Google users to
move to a proper Usenet service.

Probably not by leaps and bounds since so many backbone sites were already
dropping posts from Google. But I think it'll make a definite improvement.
And it will force the few legitimate posters on Google to get a proper
newsfeed which is going to make a big difference in their experience too.
