There is the wereo bad-crazyness and Tumblr-like blog posts from
Sweetbac, and that's it now? My how the mighty have fallen. Less
than a decade ago there were a thousand posts a day. (From actual
human beings.) Tis a pity.

A thousand posts a day? Try maybe 300 and change. 2400 or so a week.
Still a bunch more than we see now. Sweetbac ain"t an actual human
being? The mighty haven't fallen, they were pussies many of whom ran
off and started a group on fb. Not all that mighty.

Where I got an idea of what was being posted well, 9 years ago? Some
person who posted weekly stats for rmgd for a bit. Here's from a week
in July of 2004, top posters:

1: Neil Krueger <n...@comcast.net>................................. :
139
2: Richard Morris <rtmor...@pdqnet.com>...........................
88

And that was a consistent. Always in the top 3, sometimes 150+ posts a
week. Of course there is always the volume spewed. For the, same week:

Top 20 posters by article size in Kbytes

1: Neil Krueger <n...@comcast.net>................................. :
352
2: Richard Morris <rtmor...@pdqnet.com>........................... :
245

Sometimes you went over 400+ KB, but always there in the top 2 or 3...

Anyway Neil, if you think this group is a little to quiet or has its
problems, maybe you should post more often.

People just move on, Usenet is a thing of the past, I guess. Too much
competition from fancy web based sites that let you post pictures,
audio, video,etc.
Many have parted, including Stephan K from The Netherlands (SK). You
just missed him, he left earlier in 2013 and that's just to single out
one person. I think he said he was posting here for at least 15 years.
Many good folks have gravitated to Facebook RMGD which is a so-called
*closed* group. Current population: 186 and growing.

However, a few so-called *problem* posters still are here.

Therein lies the charm of usenet. It's oddly, somehow, this is gonna sound
odd, less self indulgent then FB. On the rare occasion I view my wife or
kid's FB, I find it shocking the level of crap noise spewed by people I
know and in many cases love.

Take note, I do not have any interest in knowing that your dermatologist of
many years, Harry Fishbein, removed an irregular mole from your armpit and
told you it was shaped like a avocado but was probably nothing.

I'd rather eat a bug.

There is no 'current status.' There is only the Presence of the

Now shall ye Heed and Harken unto the True Beliefs, because soon very

Obama's continuing war on pot SUCKS!
And once again the drug war and the damage it inflicts is put at the
back of the line. Gay Marriage pretty much a settled issue, hey let's
move on to Gun Control. Never mind that the drug war has taken so many
fathers off the streets putting them in private prisons, leaving kids
to grow up wild. Let's blame the guns! Never mind that many more die
from drunken driving, or that gun violence is WAY down over the lat 20
years, lets go after law abiding gun owners!
Hey, let's use Bloomberg/Schumer/Lautenberg to push these ideas on the
red states, yeah that makes sense.
Hey lets forget the Democrat in Denver who wants DNA swabs from
anybody with even a misdemeanor charge. Hey lets forget Sen Udall
another Colorado Dem advocating for domestic drone use. Yeah DEMS!

I'll second that. Both the newsreader app on my iPad and the one at home
on Thunderbird keeps posts going back a few weeks and there has been quite
a few Dead related threads that got a fair amount of play. Also some of
the usual other stuff like folks looking for advice on a place to camp
near pnc in NJ, free usenet accounts, etc. I'm thinking
of posting about the etree mobile app iOS which I'm really enjoying.
Wonder if there's one out there for android users. Still plenty of good
stuff. I guess the big difference is the amount of folks posting here
these days. The stats posts from nearly a decade ago I posted earlier had
the top 20 posters each week. We might have trouble filling that quota at
the moment, but there is plenty of good conversation between who is here.

As for gun laws, what Obama was proposing was background checks for
new gun owners. That's not exactly "going after law abiding gun
owners." That's helping to keep guns out of the hands of people who
are already prohibited by law from owning them. But don't let reality
get in the way of your rant.

As for Obama's war on pot, it way beyond sucks. It's a fucking
embarrassment is what it is. It is utterly and completely
infuriating, the little pisant weasel ought to be carted off to

The "rant" on gun control was at the priority that issue now has. Yeah
I get it,Sand Hook was terrible. Nothing in that bill (which I
supported) woudl have stopped that. Gun violence IS down in the last
20 years. More people have been killed by police in errant drug raids
over the years than at Sandy Hook. But of course most of those victims
are not a whiter shade of pale. I imagine the night of Sandy Hook more
than that horrific numbr were killed by drunk drivers.
That was a perfectly succinct blind link as well as usual.

Yeah that has cut off many a great run of youtube selections. Since
the cellar burned not so much. Sucks when there is unlimited access to
12% abv beers,of course that was not the only unlimited access
curtailed. After 27 years it has been nothing short of acclimation to
something different.

Well, I'm sorry. I think I saw the pictures, at one point. I hope that the loss of "unfettered access to mother nature" doesn't mean injury/damage to your person. And you shouldn't be bait fishing, anyway (joking). If this means you lost a boat, I'm sorry about that, too. I sure hope this all doesn't make you feel worse about your situation. Good luck.

my garge burned down along with my beer cellar full of beers that
would give sweetbac nightmares. Hopefully my insurance ocmpany as
well. So no big beer fueled youtube dj inspired posts in the last 5
months 8 days. Well not epic anyway. Plus I didn't want to upset
anybody with "blind links". This conflagration also necessitated the
curtailing of unlimited fun supplies, some of which you partook. SO
after more than a quarter century of relying on nobody,
well..........................

Thanks Steve. There have been many offers of music for sure. Much
apprecitaed. Of course they were in the garage for a reason I guess.
Having almost every SCI sbd show from from 96 or whatever it was
-2002,seemed like a good idea at the time. But now a days a bit of
fromage goes far enough. Am bummed about all the early KDTU/Yonder/RRE/
MOFRO SBDS,and the tons of Bromberg. But taht ws a whole bunch of time
adn postage. hey, I shoudl claim postage. Figure about 1.50 for every
9 discs divided by 1800. Yeah, great idea. Most all taht music
available still thankfully. SOme of the wrose loss was Hunter's high
school shit. But then there is a whole bunch of stuff he won't have to
deal with and throw away when his folks die.
The Dead memorabilia somewhat gone, but not all. I did read so many of
the soggly letters written in the 80's to go along with the trades,
that was a trip. Digging out Time Magazines and newspapers about the
hostages coming home and being taken. John Lennon being shot. first
shuttle launch/Challenger. Jonestown, Regan being shot. I gave that
copy to my buddy/broke to give to his father in law who lives about 2
miles as the crow flys as I write, was the surgeon who operated on
Reagan. They dried out failry well.
Things happen for a reason. Not sure the 15 more lost lbs was worth no
cellar, but hey.................... ; )

Aint got much of that other stuff, and certainly far from "tons" of Bromberg, but I've got maybe 15 Bromberg shows that I can throw up on a tracker somewhere if you wanna peruse what I got...

I've been around on a regular basis, making comments occasionally, but
I admit, I haven't been posting less. Less stimulus to respond to.
Most of the time is seems to just be wereo's various personalities
talking to themselves. Or pablos, ugh. I really miss the community
that this place used to be, but there are other online places that are
serving that role for me now.

I'm going to the Phish show in Jones Beach, and the two nights
immediately before that is Furthur in Boston's Seaport. Very nice 3
night run, then I'm flying out to Colorado the following week to see
two SCI shows at Redrox. GREAT musical schedule for July.

Peace,
