Anyway, I have to agree with Joe that the DNB is really a hoot, had a great
time, even if I didn't find the famous vaporizer.........
O
I wasn't feeling well, and I laid down for a nap mid-afternoon, and the
next thing I knew, it was 8:30pm.
But, I will be there tonight at Mill Valley and at the Nelson Family
Vineyards on Saturday.
Glad to hear you enjoyed the band. Looking at the setlist, they played
some good ones that night.
Joe
There's nothing to argue about.
The only people who seem to dislike DNB are those who haven't seen them,
or those who dislike everything.
Joe
Yessah, north of Santa Rosa to be exact. Nifty little gig; beer for sale at
less than half the price found at a Dead show, zero security of any kind,
smoke billowing all over the parking lot, louder than I had imagined, and a
bunch of nice folks all dancing the night away.
Its so much "in the style" of the GD without even doing GD songs. Sless is
great.
O
I don't know any of their songs, as in zero, besides having heard one that
repeats "the wind and the rain" a lot. I know I've seen them do that one
before.
Fortunately I was prepared in case Geraldine and the vaporizer weren't on
site, so a good time was had by all, but it would have been an even bigger
hoot to finally meet you.
Oh well, I won't be going to Mill Valley or Ukiah, but I will see them
anytime they play within the borders of Sonoma county, so I'm sure we'll get
another chance........
O
So was this the AARP show that started at 7:00 and included key lime
pie and a bottomless cup of coffee?

Yes!
But surprisingly, maybe since Sebastopol is so earthy and longhairy in
general, the crowd skewed to mostly under 50's. There were even a few kids.
But I'm still hoping for bingo afterwards next time.
O
I'm in Santa Rosa. Maybe will meet you at music here one of these
days. The Sebastopol Community Center is a nice stress-free venue.
Agreed on Sless, and the rest of 'em are pretty fine musicians also!

I do miss the occassional show, but for the most part, if DNB is playing
north of the Golden Gate, I'm there.
But, like tomorrow, I have a conflict, with having bought a ticket months
ago to see Leonard Cohen.
Although the NRPS is nowhere near as high quality musicians as DNB, they
are playing at The Mystic on 11/28, and I have a ticket for that. As well
as the night before at The Great American Music Hall.
They're fun, and last time they played the Mystic, Barry sat in for about
75% of the show, so it was almost like the real thing.
Joe
So they were better this time than when you saw them at the backyard
party gig in Las Vegas?
************************************************************
Good god, what a memory! How can you remember some post I made about some
party I went to more than FIVE years ago????
Yes, I would say they are much better. Of course they had a real stage and
real sound system on Tues, but it was also just more to my taste. Still
country jam rock, but more hard rockin than the house party. Hell, they
were sitting down eating spaghetti while strumming acoustics for the first
part of that one..........
No spaghetti anywhere in evidence on Tues, but mucho intense electric
jamming. They sound very professional!

I also remembered your story of seeing DNB in someone's backyard in Las
Vegas.
In any case, the first 2 nights of this run sure served as a helluva warm
up, as they were Zero To 60 in about 3 seconds, kicking out the jams in a
big way at the first Mill Valley show! They were fantastic last night.
And Katrinka partake in the vaporizer, and they sure seemed more than just
a little impressed.
Next time, Toad, next time.
I guess I'd forgotten just how much I love DNB, buy hey, no more missed
shows for me anymore!
