Thanks for sharing, Booie . I loved the Dylan - Dead tour. The Dead
had a cute little habit when they played this song with Zimmy - they
added a little mini- "space" jam at the beginnings of those versions
of 'Thin Man.'

You should really check out Dylans tour of England (and Europe?) in
2000 then. There are some great soundboards out there.

Just saw the 11/18/09 show at the United Palace. Lucked out with third-
row seats that I somehow scored through presale online. Sound and
sightlines were great and the band played a great show. I've seen just
about every Dylan tour since 1988, and Wednesday's show was my 4th
since August 2008 (Electric Factory, United Palace, minor-league tour
this summer, United Palace again). I felt the band was kind of flat
and unimaginative but with Sexton back on board things definitely seem
to have picked up, along the lines of the great shows I saw in the
late 1990s. I enjoyed all four of these shows and thought the 11/08
tour ender I saw at the United Palace was phenomenal. But the show the
other night, even with a setlist that I felt was too heavy on the last
several albums, was just superb.
The killer seats surely didn't hurt (though the oversized ushers were
obnoxious all night), but I think the band was tighter than I'd seen
in recent years.

is 4/1/88. It was good, but not as powerful as the ones backing up
Zimmy.

I thought the other one they played post-Dylan, 3/27/88 positively
ripped. Maybe my favorite single performance of a Dylan cover I saw.
As for the Dead/Dylan 87 shows, I was at the east coast ones, and
while I thought it was as cool as could be and had the time of my
life, I didn't think they performances were all that hot. Maybe Giants
Stadium pinned the meter a second or three, but the other two were
pretty tame.

I think I threw mine away. Seriously, after a while the only song I
could listen to was Watchtower and even that wasn't a particularly
good version. Senor is just awful. What is excellent are the
rehersal tapes IMO.

The word at the time was that they couldn't use the east coast dates
due to problems with the unions, so were left with the west coast
dates to pick from. Though the east coast shows weren't amazing, they
struck me as better than the stuff on the album. And, I, too, loved
the Joey. I think that makes a total of two of us.

I was at work one day, maybe 1990 or so -- it wasn't an "office," we could
blast whatever music we wanted. I started playing "Dylan And The Dead."
One of my co-workers, a Dylan *and* Dead freak, walked over, stopped the
tape and took it out of the deck, and that was the end of that.

Friday,lonog over night drive down THE 5, my son Hunter born on

What Grateful Dead shows sounds great that is available for general
consumption.
Do you remember the sound that came out of The Capitol Theater in
Passic, NJ?
Some wicked sounding shows came out of that venue.
(man if I could only tell you the booie stories that came out of
there, fuck that was wild!)
But "that" kind of quality of sound for live material.
Any suggestions?
