Violence is never justifiable, but IAAHSWYPII?!

JACKSONVILLE, Florida (WTEV) - A man was arrested and booked into the
Duval County Jail after he allegedly hit his boyfriend in the face with a
plate.

Police say the cause of the fight was over Alanis Morissette songs.

It happened on Sunday near the 1400 block of Palm Ave.

The Florida Times Union reports that when police asked 24-year-old Allen
Blair Casey if the cause of the plate attack was because his boyfriend was
listening to Morissette's music, Casey replied, "That's all that --- ----
listens to."

Police report the victim suffered a large cut on his face.

Casey was arrested and charged with domestic battery.

This story dredges up such sweet memories for me.

Way back when I sent the following in an email to the program manager of a local radio station that was crowing about the "variety" in their "progressive rock" playlist.

It's the same song again and again
So often that song I can't stand
It's the same music day after day
I switch to NPR to make it go away
isn't it moronic, don't ya think
yeah, I really do think

Not sayin' it wasn't or she doesn't. The radio just killed that one song. Nothing new, same old bubblegum mentality.

Jerry Springer once said that if Florida and Texas disappeared from
the face of the earth, he'd have to cancel his show.

Peace,

Sometime back in the mid-to-late 90s, or whenever the hell this song was out, I took a road trip to Vegas with some friends. For some reason I didn't plan ahead and bring some CDs along, so we were stuck in a car for like 3 hours each way with only that Alanis CD and some other piece of dreck that was far, far worse. Many years later, I'm still struck by PTSD flashbacks to that weekend whenever I'm reminded of Alanis Morrisette. The horror. The horror.
