The culinary highlight of this year's potluck was the peppadew.
http://www.peppadewusa.com/peppadewstory.htm
The peppadews were served as an hors d'oeuvre stuffed with a
local goat cheese and topped with a small leaf of basil. Oh...
My ... God ...
I had never before heard of the peppadew, but they are quite
something and I will definitely be getting some for myself.
It occurs to me that these will be complemented quite nicely
by a dry Gewürztraminer, well chilled.

Sounds good. I think I have already tasted a sweet piquante pepper, is
was HOT! I will look for the Peppadew brand.
However, Ken, Peppadew is the brand name of sweet piquante peppers
grown in the Limpopo (Nothern Transvaal) Province of South Africa.
Peppadew International markets it under the trademarked name Peppadew
as a fruit. The type of piquante peppers was discovered and isolated
in the 1990's. The name is drived from Pepper and Dew. Although the
pepper is smoetimes describeb as a cross between a pepper and a
tomato, this description is not botanically correct, and refers only
to the resemblance in colour and size between this pepper and a
cherry tomato. The fruit is Prpcessed for removal of the seeds and the
reduction of the heat of the pepper to more pleasant levels. It is
then pickeled and bottled. Peppadew International holds all the
growing rights to the plant. The Stohmeyer & Arpe Co., Inc of Basking
Ridge, Nwe Jersey in the importer & distributor of the bottled fruit
in the USA. A distribution wharehouse is in Sinking Spring (Reading)
PA. Both in my neck of the woods.
