I asked hopefully about Alpine Valley but all I got was
an enigmatic grin and a "can't say".
A good show is a good show any time of the year but I
have a real fondness for Summer Tour shows at outdoor
venues. And some of my favorite Grateful Dead memories
are from Alpine Valley.
Anyway, just musing here in the Urbana snow.

It's going to be a perfect night for live dead music coming up a few
Friday nights from now at a gorgeous outdoor ampitheater on Biscayne
Bay in Miami.
My heart is warmed on the occasions that my thoughts and Ken's
intersect, it sorta renews my faith in humanity.

-Who among us has not dreamed of faraway places and intertwined lovers?
Are they playing today?
Ah, an enthusiastic Elton John fan. Well, I hope you can
make it to the show and I hope he plays that song for ya.

a $2,000 plate of eggs, and thats all Phil would hint at?
Any other major revelations at the brunch?
PIPE DOWN, SCRUFFY !! Or there will be no Scruffy snacks for you.
Bad Scruffy, bad dog.

Isn't that a Paul & Wings tune? <shrug>

I know someone who was at the brunch on new years day.
He said not only did you bore the table with endless talk
of your beloved Chambana, but your open invitation directed
to Phil to tour the St Louis budweiser brewery with you was
a bit insensitive given Phils recent liver transplant.
How dare you.
I wouldn't turn down a Frost show, either.
Ohmigod, that was *YOU* ?
<DOH> <slap forehead>
When the guy from Hawaii started talking about the cab driver
from hell with the aardvark porn and the donkey fetish I
should have put two and two together.
I gotta say, Scruffy, you do make quite the unforgettable
impression.

OMG Frost. I can't even imagine it now, I don't think current times
could allow such a thing to happen. There's just no way..I hope I'm
wrong.

Now take the bag off ya head, Dingledummy.
SHUT UP, Scruffy !! You're a BAD DOG !

The Frost was one of the finest outdoor places for the GD. The smell
of eucalyptus and the sounds of the Dead, lots of old time family
folks from 1st gen Dead fans with their kids and grandkids.... right
near the place where it all began, relaxing on the back of the lawn,
or raging down by the stage - it was without equal in the GD universe.
LP
There was a P&F Frost show sometime back, maybe June '01 or '02 (I know
it was the day of game seven of the Lakers/Kings series on the march to
their 2nd title under Jackson)... Show was completely snooze-worthy, but
the lot, the day and the surroundings were spectacular.
And, from what I could tell, the crowd was not an issue, under control
and restrained... Hopefully we'll get another Frost show at some point...
I reiterate: J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!!
Personally, I'd like to thank the Chargers for the stupidest penalites ever
created in a playoff game: headbutting, flag kicking yada yada yada blah
blah blah

I was at that Phil show.
The lot was filled with former hippies with lawn chairs
and fanny packs....not exactly the Frost of old.
Lets focus people, the days of the Grateful Dead acid
madness parking lot camping scenes are two decades removed.
(at least in the bay area)
I see no fallout from a "Further" sunday afternoon gig.
I guess that means it will be a raging success.
Yeah, I agree. As good as Furthur might be, the gate-crashers of old
are now in their late 30s. And they're on the East Coast, or in LA
perhaps, but not in Silicon Valley.
"Scruffy" is running comedic circles around you, Ken. Best to quit
now before you embarass yourself even more.
HTH.
Don't make me swat you with the newspaper, Beezeltwat.

It was a little ridiculous for the Ref to call the flag kicking
penalty, especially since the guy almost whiffed it. But then, I can't
really feel sorry for SD since they were chirping too much the entire
game until they realized there was a good chance they were gonna lose.

Ventura and/or Cal Expo wouldn't be a bad thing.

Ventura maybe, but I'm pretty sure the old Cal Expo concert venue is
history.
