Schedule is out for the "summer season" at the jazz center.
http://www.sfjazz.org/events/sessions/2013
25 shows...NObody...not ONE show I need to see....
African music...lounge singers...Tuvan Throat Singers perform
the Radiohead songbook.....exCUSE me?...tap dancers...
sword swallowers...I aint bullshittin'....how 'bout a G'damn quartet?
....Quintet?...ya know....JAZZ...I assume the heavy hitters will be
here in the fall, but this is ridiculous...not one show at the joint....
I'm going to see Ahmad Jamal Qt. at Symphony Hall, and yesterday
picked up tix for Joey Defrancesco organ trio at Yoshis...DO NOT
get me started on Yoshis...I strolled down Fillmore street to
the club yesterday...ticket was $25 general admission...
if you wanted to reserve a seat, they added $15 more per MF'in ticket!!
Why?...Who comes up with this shit?...even the chick at the box office
looked embarrassed...I gotta open up a club.

I think the octogenarians are summering in Europe, these days, Sweets -
something about the oxygen being cheaper, I think is what I heard.

You need to support Jazz if you like and want to see Jazz, because no one... NO ONE else is going to to do it. No freebies. Time to become a patron.

Cindy Blackman and Airto are the only two shows on that list that I'd
even consider, although I admit I don't know anything about a lot of
the acts. Take a date to the Jane Monheit show and you'll have a
decent shot she'll be in the mood to get laid afterwards (the date,
not Jane....although who knows?).

That might be logistically difficult, I don't think the donkey likes jazz.

Nice! Who's playing drums these days? I dig the rhythm section of Jim and Idris.

I'm pretty sure that was targeted advertising. I got an investment ad. Google is watching you.

Jim Cammack and Idris Muhammed. For someone who presents themselves as knowledgable about these things, that's a pretty weak fail.

It's actually JAMES Cammack...but I don't sweat the small stuff, Phyllis!
I'm just playin' witcha, baby...I been seein' Ahmad since you was jumpin'
around the living room blaring "Band On The Run", playing MF'in
"dust broom" air bass....feel me.

Dude, he introduced himself to me as Jim, so I gotta defer. We had a nice long conversation about Alembic basses. He has a wonderful fretless.

Band on the run? I'd almost rather be caught with the Partridge Family.

I think you are confusing me with my brother:

www.adamhurwitz.com

And, no, the dude is not white.

He even calls himself Jim on his website:

http://www.jimcammack.com

Anyway, it looks like he won't be there:

Ahmad decided a change was needed...good riddance.
Any other failed bass players you interacted with, Jaco?
Your trail of destruction is deep as it is wide....
Woody Allen from Gove Mule?...gone within 2 weeks
of meeting you...Jaco Pastorious?...remember him?...
on the streets and destitute after you attended a workshop.
I could go on...but I think you get my drift...
I shant be returning to this thread, fearing for my own safety
considering my recent bass explorations...

You're getting mixed up with another episode of my life. Every teacher I had from Kindergarten through 4 grade left teaching after I got through their class, pregnant. 5 years in a row, 5 pregnant
wimmins. Me, the only common factor. The kavorka!

Well, Airto could be fun to listen to, and I gotta admit I'd be
interested to hear the "Monk-estra Big Band." But yeah, this ain't
exactly start studded.

Peace,
