weird you bring this up -

i was listening to del's record just the other day - first time i've played
it in a few years - it stood the test of time better than most rap.

wasn't del the step-brother or nephew of ice cube or something like that?

I think he's Ice Cubes cuzin.
The Mr Dobalina vocal hook is from a Monkees record called
Zilch...Pretty ingenuitive use of a sampler if I say so
myself...considering that was 1991.

It was Del tha Funky Homosapien. It's the lead track from his first solo
album, I Wish My Brother George Was Here, which came out in '91. It's a
great record, by the way. With the exception of a couple of tracks, it's
fresh and funky all the way through. I would name it as one of my ten
favorite rap records of all time. It's criminally under-appreciated.
