I was wondering if someone could tell me the name of his
former group...I don't know if he had more than one, but if
that's the case, what're the names of all his groups?

thanks, ben

He had some group back in his high school days in Indianapolis (where he's
from), but the group he gained notoriety with was The Deele (L.A. Reid was
also a member). Remember the hit "Two Occasions"?

The Deele had their first hit in about 1984. It was called "Body Talk",
it was produced by the Callaway brothers from Midnight Star. It sounded
like "Freak-a-Zoid" etc. It was from the album of the same name. Then
they had an album called "Material Thangz", which I think was their best.
It featured "Sweet November", which was later recorded by Troop. It was a
great album. After a couple of years off they came out with "Eyes of a
Stranger" that featured their biggest pop hits. It was also a very good
album. Between their last two albums (not including the most recent
recorded by the two remaining members (Babyface, LA, and Kayo have all
left to work for LaFace, etc.) Babyface came out with his first solo
album. It had a goofy airbrush painting of him on the cover, the cover
was changed to a photo of him by a fireplace when it was re-released by
Sony after "Eyes of a Stranger" became a big hit.

Hope that helps.

Babyface was in the group The Deele, but long before that
he was a member of Manchild.
Manchild released at least two albums
called "Power & Love" (1977) and "Feel The Phuff" (1978).
Daryl Simmons was also in that group.
