Even a less than well versed listener can hear the funk influencing
this song right away, which shows a well-learned appreciation for some
of the fundamentals contemporary music has been built upon, not
mention it's just, well, funky. In terms of the video the first thing
(and actually only) the viewer will see is hi-res photos. Which is a
bit, simple, it is doubtful that this will strike most viewers as a
polished or finished music video, but with the amount of talent, and
commingling of sounds it was as if someone on the production team
thought what was being created was too good to wait for a fully
realized music video. So in a fit of pique they took everyone's press
photos and made a montage just so they could get it on youtube now,
instead of later.
The most distinguishable voice is Snoop Dogg, yet the sound is very P-
funk approved, but the audience is going to want more. so far the
listening public has a minute forty of this track, and with a line up
as illustrious as this the listener wants to be wowed, and perhaps the
"wow factor" is coming on a longer version of this track but it's not
here just yet. the rhymes are for a lack of a better word "tight", but
not a lot of substance to go with them towards the building level of
flash that comes with such a collaboration. There were pictures of
(I'm not sure who) on a Soul Train band stand, an image that evokes
nostalgia and quality, and while it is a great homage to pay, it needs
to be backed up with quality and flare alike.
