No, I think it's Robin Batteau who plays the violin.
Robin has sung and/or played on some of Christine
Lavin's songs and played violin on Nanci Griffith's
"Wing and the Wheel" (I think that's the song).
David Buskin has appeared on several of Christine Lavin's
produced compilations, including
"On a Winter's Night" where he does a re-make of "When I Need
You Most of All", on "Big Times in a Small Town" where he leads the
rousing and humorous rendition of "A Folksinger Earns Every Dime"
and on "Follow That Road" where he does "Heaven is Free Tonight"
which is from his latest album. The 3 aforementioned albums
are on Rounder/Philo, forget what label he records on.
Rumor has it that he used to write advertising jingles, some
quite famous. "Be All You That Can Be in the Army" seems to ring a bell.
>biographical or other information about Robin Buskin or David Batteau?
I believe they no longer perform as a duo.

Agreed. I found this by chance in a record store and what a bargain it
was. Only $13.99 for a two-album CD.

Oh yeah, he was -- I missed that round :-(.
Here's what the Internet Quartets brochure said:
----- Begin IQ excerpt: -----
"If someone asked me to make a commercial about David
Buskin, I would tell you that he's a clever, sophisticated,
adult entertainer. I would tell you that he writes songs
that either touch the heart or tickle the funny bone. I
would also tell you not to miss any opportunity to see him
perform in concert ... And I know exactly who I'd get to
do the jingle." -- Pete Fornatale, WXRK-FM, New York
David Buskin is an extraordinary singer/songwriter whose
melodies and finely-nuanced lyrics get into your head and
stay there. His concerts receive standing ovations and
glorious reviews. In his day job, he has written jingles
for NBC, Coca Cola, Amtrak, the US Postal Service, the
Army, and more. His new CD, "Heaven Is Free Tonight", is
scheduled for release on Green Linnet in January, 1995.

I'll add that I've heard that CD and think it is wonderful, and plan
to buy a copy as soon as I can.

I spent a number of years trying to get a copy of any recordings by
them. I discovered that they record for a label called Single Wing
Records and eventually managed to get a CD by them through Tower Mail
Order. Apart from a listing of tracks there was no information at
all about the duo in the sleevenotes. I wrote to the record company
but they could give me no information either. Can anyone give me any
biographical or other information about Robin Buskin or David Batteau?
You might try e-mailing Sue Leventhal, SueL1...@aol.com, who seems
to represent David Buskin, judging from the signature used in her

It is my understanding that Robin Batteau wrote this one. But I may
be wrong. In performances David Buskin will often do a song that is really
a compilation of some of the many jingles he has written. You will be
amazed at how many of them you recognize.
His shows are always entertaining and well-worth attending. Go see him
when he comes to your area.

They also put out a CD called B&B, BBCD2012 by Single Wing Records.
I vaguely remember that they started out writing advertising jingles and
that was still their primary income. I think the Heartbeat of America
(Chevy) is by them.

Yes, they did start out writing advertising jingles (Heartbeat is
theirs). I saw them in WNEW's folk concert for the homeless (?) in 1987
or 1988. They shared the bill with Gordon Lightfoot. They went through
a medley of their jingles which was great fun. They also did a song
about men and ESPN. Could you tell me if this song is on their "Two on
One" album? I have B&B (BBCD2012) and think "These Nights" is a truly
great song (why do some performances get overlooked?).
Does anyone know if they are still performing together?
They split up. David Buskin is performing with a new partner.
Robin Batteau is still around, writing commercials and playing
backup for people like Christine Lavin and Chris Smither.
