I've tried everywhere else. Someone suggested I inquire here.

I'm trying to find the title and complete text of a poem which is
occasionally sung by those of the folk persuasion. The poem describes the
battle that took place between Abdul Abulbul Amir and Ivan Skavinsky
Skivar when Ivan stepped on Abdul's toe.

Pointers to source books gratefully accepted. (It's long enough that I
won't suggest anyone post it unless you think it's worth sharing). Albums
with it sung also acceptable. If you can point me to a video of the
cartoon that was made to illustrate the poem, you'll have my undying
gratitude.

}I prefer the Roberta Flack version.

I prefer the Terrea Lea version. Any other fans of Terrea out there?

Re: Throat singing

I have a CD of the Gyoto Monks that is almost a solid hour of this
technique. I bought it at a used CD store and don't know if it's
otherwise available outside one of their concerts. It's at home and I'm
not, so I can't post more details right now.

Thanks in advance.

I know that the complete text of this song occurs in an Edinburgh
University Mountaineering Club Song Book printed sometime in the 50's (!)
as my father has a copy of it. If you can't get the words anywhere
else I can get him to copy the pages for me and I shall scan it in and
mail you the lyric.
