This is my first posting to this group, though I have been lurking for
quite some time.I just got my copy of Dave MacIsaac's new CD "Nimble
Fingers",hot off the press, and wanted to let you all know about it's release.
For those of you unfamiliar with Dave,he is a guitarist, fiddler, mandolin,
dobro, bass player from Halifax who has been playing professionally for 20
years, having played with Stan Rogers,Dougie Maclean,John Lee Hooker at
one time or another, and on virtually most Maritime Celtic releases in the
last 15 years,including The Rankin Family,Natalie MacMaster,Ashley MacIsaac,
Jerry Holland,Buddy MacMaster,Carl Mackenzie, and the list goes on and on.
Dave has spent a lot of time recently on tour with both Natalie MacMaster
and John MacDermott, but found time in the spring to put together his first
solo CD since the "Celtic Guitar" tape was released in April,1986.
His musicians include: Tracey Dares:Piano,Organ,Synth
Allie Bennett:Bass
Dave Burton:Drums
Exerpts From Dave's Liner Notes Follow
"In the fall of 1994 I thought that it was time to go back into the
studio for a solo project-April'86 had been the last.
Since then I've been playing lots of great gigs all over the world, from
Japan to Amsterdam and California to the UK.
In researching material for this CD,I listened to old 78's and read
through a lot of North American,Scottish, and Irish tune collections. As
well,I remembered some selections that I heard my father,Alex Dan,play.
Growing up in Halifax,I heard Cape Breton violin music on a daily basis
around the house with the playing of my father and many of his musical
friends like Carl Mackenzie and Sonny Murray.I also heard Rock'n
Roll,Country and Jazz, all of which influenced my style of guitar playing.
On this session, you'll find everything from acoustic guitar,old-time
fiddle and piano duets, dobro and mandolin to full blown Fender electric
guitar Celtic rockers.I hope you folks have as much fun listening to this
as we did recording it!"

Glad to hear. I knew it was coming out soon, and I expect it will be at
record stores soon. I heard there's a release party up in Cape Breton
tonight. Unfortunately I can't go!

Besides the work he's done in playing on most of those, he's also
produced a few of them, including Tracey Dare's recent release.

He's phenomenal in terms of talent. Basically give Dave just about any
instrument with strings and he'll play it. If not immediately, very
soon.
