I saw Tish Hinojosa last night at the Ozona Westex Grill in Dallas.
The show was pretty good, though after seeing her at the Caravan
Of Dreams, it's easy to get spoiled. She was accompanied by four
musicians: the redoubtable Marvin Dykhuis on guitar and mandolin
and Roland Denny on bass have played with her here before, and she
had two guys from New Jersey, Chip Golan on keyboards and accordion,
and Robert Madden on drums. They also had flyers out for the new
album; I guess that's part of being on a major label. The Ozona
didn't sound as good as I'd like, but was okay. I think Marvin
had less skating room in the larger group, and I missed his tasteful,
temporary dominance of the stage, and Roland didn't have his upright
bass, which I missed. But 'twas good.

The set list (with Destiny's Gate tracks marked with an *):

I'd encourage anyone interested to go see Tish live.

There's apparently a new "Tish update line" - they list 1-512-440-TISH,
with a mailing address still "Tish Hinojosa, P.O. Box 3304, Austin TX 78764"

I got some free tix to this show in Scottsdale. Tish seems to be billed as
the opening act for Brooks Williams. Only problem is that I have never
heard of him.

Does anybody have any idea who he is, or what to expect?

Brooks Williams is a fantastic singer/songwriter/guitar whiz. His
style, both vocally and musically, is very similar to David Wilcox,
and somewhat like John Gorka as well (to a lesser extent). He is
truly amazing on the guitar.

It would be well worth your effort to see him live.

Singer-songwriter, originally from Georgia, now in Massachusetts. Haven't
heard anything in a while, but I remember that he was quite impressive in radio
interviews a fwe years back.

I first saw Brooks a few years ago when he played at Godfrey Daniels
- his extraordinary guitar playing and moving lyrics quite impressed
me. I've been to see him perform 8 or 9 times since then, sometimes
driving as much as 2 or 3 hours to get to a show. Brooks is worth
the trip! He's an incredibly entertaining performer. You won't be
disappointed.
