I'm wondering if anyone can supply me with the words to the verses of
the following "Sobriety test", the chorus being:

I'm not the pheasant plucker, I'm the pheasant plucker's son,
And I'm sittin' pluckin' pheasants 'til the pheasant plucker comes.

I've checked DigiTrad, but came up empty.

Thanks in advance,

Harold Atkinson

Try "The Wurzels" Golden Delicious on EMC-C 132.
It is attributed to Douglas Taylor.
Good luck in your search

The Irish Rovers did a version of this song, attributed to "J. Taylor," on
their 15-year retrospective album that came out about that many years ago! I
still have it on vinyl, so please e-mail me if you still need a copy of the
words, and I'll try to transcribe it.

I just heard the Rev. Billy C. Wirtz do this one in a blues bar in
Syracuse -- it's a too small world. Nice to know the reference.

You don't have to be intoxicated to lose it on this one.

Actually, I've always heard it as "fig plucker" rather than
"pheasant plucker."

I too would like the full wording for future use.

What on earth is a "plig"?

I believe it's a Monty Python song; I don't recall the verses, but
the chorus is:

I'm not a pheasant plucker, I'm a pheasant plucker's son;
I'm only plucking pheasants til the pheasant plucker comes.

This almost makes equal sense whether sung by the Reverend Spooner
or the rest of us.

My opinions; I do not speak for my employer.

I don't think "fig plucker" works anywhere near as well as a tongue
twister. Never heard it that way. But I've heard many betippled Scots
reciting the pheasant plucker.

No I first heard it long before Monty Python emerged on the scene.
