There are other albums by the Beers Family. e.g. THE SEASONS OF PEACE
(Biograph BLP-12033). I believe that one has recently been reissued on CD.
Years before Bob died, Martha (Marty) had gone on to work as a duo with
her then-husband Eric Nagler. After Bob's death, they recorded an album
called THE GENTLENESS IN LIVING (Philo PH-1010) that included the participation
of Evelyn on some songs. Eric and Marty were divorced some years ago and Eric
is now quite prominent in children's music.

If its the legacy of the Beers Family your looking for run don't walk to

Sandy & Caroline Paton along with members of the Golden Ring and the Beers
family "were" the Fox Hollow festival which Bob Beers organized as a setting
for the kind on comunal singing you hear on these wonderful Folk Legacy
recordings. IMHO the Golden Ring series is better Beers Family music than
their own recordings which had to go through the commercial "grinder" at
Columbia. And, the Folk Legacy recordings are on CD now!

I thought I had more than one, and I don't remember them being on the
Columbia label. One title that comes to mind is "Seasons of Peace". I'll
see if I can find time to dig through my stacks of old vinyl for something
more concrete.
Some folks have already posted a few details about the Beers' discography, so
I'll add a little more:
Robert and Evelyn Beers were famous for organizing the popular Fox Hollow Folk
Festival, which ran for some years just outside the Albany, NY area. It began as
a relatively small gathering of friends and acquaintances and mushroomed into a
well-attended, eagerly anticipated event: Among others, the festival showcased
Michael Cooney, David Bromberg, John Hartford, Bruce Cockburn, Utah Phillips,
Leon Redbone, John McCutcheon and the Boys of the Lough -- in fact, I think Fox
Hollow was one of the first American venues for the BoL. Sadly, Bob was killed
in a car crash a few months before the 1972 festival. Evelyn remarried a couple
of years later, and the festival continued until 1980.
The Beers had a daughter, Martha, who married Eric Nagler -- you might know him
from his work with the family entertainers Sharon, Lois and Bram. They split up
many years ago.
At least one Beers family album which also included the Boyer family -- I think
she was Bob's sister, and she, her husband and their kids performed on their
own.
Eric and Martha did an album which included Evelyn called "The Gentleness in
Living" for the Philo label about a year or so after Bob's death. It has a
little bit of everything: a rag-time banjo piece, fiddle tunes, a Bruce Cockburn
song and an epic ballad and instrumental medley featuring Highland pipes. Eric
and Martha did at least one other album after that, but I haven't seen it widely
distributed in the US.
Hope some of this is helpful.

And just to catch up on *them*, Bill Boyer died in the 1980s; Janet Boyer
(yes, Bob's sister) still lives in St. Louis -- in fact, we sang together
on Christmas Eve. Their daughter Susan Boyer Haley is an active folk music
performer in Florida.
Peace.

Hi...I went to high school with some of the Boyer kids and Sue taught me to
play dulcimer. When she married and moved East (around 1975), she asked me to
take over teaching her students at the Boyer's music store "Music Folk" in
Webster Groves, MO which I did for a while. The store is still there with an
adjoining acoustic music space called The Focal Point. I was in choir with Joe
who was a year younger than me - I believe he lives in Michigan now. A
wonderful family!
