Someone told me that Luka Bloom is actually Christy Moore's brother.
Is there anyone out there who can verify this? Just curious.

Yes, he is!

I also read that his unusual strumming style was born when he suffered
something like carpal tunnel from finger picking.

Sounds like he can be a really intense person.

Luka Bloom's real name is Barry Moore and he is Christy's brother.
He used to perform under his own name before adopting the Joycian
nomenclature.

Yes indeed, he can be and he is. He's also one of the most brilliant
performers I've seen anywhere. I've just seen him play two nights running
in southern California, and I'm thinking of seeimg him again in Orange
County later in the week.

If you were to close your eyes at one of his gigs, you might find it hard
to believe that one man is getting all that music out of one
electro-acoustic guitar.

Incidentally, his given name is Barry Moore, and one of the reasons he
changed it was to avoid being referred to as "Christy Moore's brother" ...

Luka Bloom in my humble opinion is a near-god!!! .toronto.edu (Mike Godfrey) writes:
Not only is he a good muscician, but he is an incredible performer.
I've been fortunate enough to see him play three times in the last .
4 years.
From what I know. He chose his names LUKA and BLOOM from what he
called two important female heros. The first being James Joyce's
female protagonist MOLLY BLOOM and from the author of the song LUKA
by Suzanne Vega.
In COncert, this man is intense. Infact I've never beent the recipient
of soo much sweat at a show.
Don't miss this man should he come to your city. He is Great.

If anyone is interested in starting a seperate dialogue on L.B n
please E-mail me at BF...@McGillB.Bitnet.
