My wife, when reminiscing her college daysin Oneonta NY, talks about a
folk singer named Jack Hardy. He has recorded because my wife has
some LPs of his. Can anyone tell me if he is still performing or
recording. Anything of his on CD?

Thanks

Sure is. He comes to the Boston area a couple of times a year, and
has been based for many years in New York, where he was a founder
of the Fast Folk Musical Magazine. He is the focal (or is that folkal)
point of a songwriters' group, whose participants came to be known
as Jack's Crows, from whence Gorka's album title. He tours in Europe
frequently. I'm aware of two CDs: Two of Swords and Through, though there
may be others.

Ah, it's nice to hear some positive comments on Jack Hardy--a most
interesting, intelligent and talented songwriter. And so unknown and
underappreciated! Yes, he plays in New England quite frequently and
has several cd's available. I have "Two of Swords," "The Hunter,"
"Retrospective," and "Through." His music is hard to get; you can buy
it at his shows or by ordering direct from him. I'll post the address
later when I can look it up.

Here's the address for ordering cd's from Jack Hardy, as promised in
my previous post.

Jack Hardy
178 W. Houston St. #9
New York, NY 10014

He asks for $15 + $2 for shipping and handling. When I ordered from
him, his response time was very good. His last card indicated that
"Through" and "Retrospective" were available--I don't know about the
availablilty of anything else. While you're at it, ask to be put on
his mailing list. It's just about the only way to be informed of his
shows.
