I recently learned, with horror, that KBAC (Radio Free Santa Fe) is
scheduled to be sold to a station that wants to fdo christian
programming. There are already local stations that do that, but none
that play the eclectic and intelligent mix of blues, jazz, funk and
alternative rock that KBAC does. It is currently owned by Clear
Chennel, which has left it pretty much alone after its plans to turn it
into a classic rock station unleashed a storm of protest a couple of
years ago. Even if you don't like its current music mix, please speak
up against the loss of a station that actually does reflect its
community and has actual employess who support local businesses.

Clear Channel is in process of selling KBAC to a Christian Broadcasting
Company, EMF Broadcasting out of Rocklin, California. It is just barely
possible that if the sale is protested, the employess might be able to
buy it and keep it under local control. SO please write letters, send
faxes, make phone calls.....

Please make sure that a copy of your letter gets sent to Friends of
KBAC, 223 North Guadalupe #533, Santa Fe, NM, 87501 so that they have a
copy on file to send out as well when they write the FCC to protest
this sale.

I would approve of removing any station that plays that type of music.

We need more station that play Folk Music.

Well, no one wants to lose radio stations that plays a mix they like, but
with the Internet there's no shortage of musical formats available for
listening in a variety of ways, 24/7. While I don't want to see a folk
station become a Christian station either, at least in this day and age
there are alternatives and it's not the end of the world for your musical
preferences.

Stay on the Sunnyside.....
