i can speak about Shawn Colvin: you won't be seeing her any time soon.
she just finished another solo tour in support of David Crosby and Graham
Nash (Graham Parker was on the bill too), during which she came out and
sang backups on a few numbers with Crosby & Nash as well. then on the 15th
and 16th, she did two nights at The Bottom Line in NYC (Darden Smith
opened). those two concerts will be the basis for a live album, which, i
imagine, will be released sometime next year.

and then she'll disappear for awhile. why? because she is getting married
-- to Richard Thompson's former road manager, Simon Pisano. if you caught
Shawn on her solo tour last October/November, you may have seen Simon
walking around and/or doing her sound (or helping her with lyrics when she
forgot them!). Simon, btw, is the gentleman she writes about in the song
"Orion in the Sky." yes, he's Australian (which may explain her strong
interest in Crowded House and her recent cover of their tune "Weather With
You.")

If you are in Southern California she will be at
a pro-choice benefit at the Santa Monica Civic
auditorium in early September (forget the exact
date).

By the way, regarding Tom Petty, he and the band
did a set at Johnny Depp's new club (the old Central
on the Strip) last week showcasing new material, not
stuff that their going to release on any of their
upcoming albums strangely.

hmmm.. i'm confused. she is advertised as being at the Strawberry
Music Festival in Camp Mather, CA (near Yosemite Park) this coming
holiday weekend. i'll look close and see if she has a stand-in.
