Does anyone know when Gordon's new CD will be released??

Last I heard was that it would be released sometime in January.
However, I haven't seen it anywhere.

Any information will be greatly appreciated!!!

I have an advance sheet from Warner Bros. that lists the release
date as March 23 on Reprise. The title is Waiting For You.

Songlist:
1. Restless
2. Ring Them Bells (Dylan)
3. Fading Away
4. Only Love Would Know
5. Welcome To Try
6. I'll Prove My Love
7. Waiting For You
8. Wild Strawberries
9. I'd Rather Press On
10.Drink Yer Glasses Empty

The quote from the advance sheet describes the album as "a quietly
reflective set that finds Lightfoot in spectacular form."

While we are on the subject ...

I've got Gord's Gold and Gord's Gold 2.
What are some other CD recommendations?

I don't know if his entire catalog is on CD, but Sundown is my
favorite from an "entire album" approach. Same for Sunday
Concert since it has my favorite version of Canadian Railroad
Trilogy. The one on Gord's Gold doesn't have as much energy.

But then again I've got most of his stuff on vinyl, so the only
one I wouldn't recommend is Salute.

I got the three CD box set of his first five albums. Pretty good. For
my taste,
they could have left the fifth album/third CD (a live concert recording) out.
Lots of things are in there twice.

What are the names of the first five albums which are on that CD
boxed set?

Sunday Concert is by far the best thing that old Gordon Lightfoot has done, my
father has a copy of it on vinyl and the cover has fallen apart but it's an
excellent Lp. It is not released on CD in this country, I have the less
enthusiastic versions on Gord's Golds, oh well,

Catch you later,

I don't know if this has been mentioned...

Last summer I saw Moxy Fruvous, a wonderful band from Canada
and they did "Early Morning Rain," which they said was one of
two songs they did on a tribute to Gordon Lightfoot album, due
out soon. I wasn't impressed by their version of EMR, although
I like them and the song seperately.

Has anyone heard anything about the tribute album?

It's to be released in April, according to a newspaper article.

Haven't heard about the tribute album, but I've seen Moxy Fruvous perform
and I thought that their version was much better than Gordon's. I like
Gordon Lightfoot, but I felt that they far outdid him on this one.
Look out for Moxy Fruvous ... they've just signed with Warner, and are
are gearing up for their first album - they do have an independant EP out
which is great. Don't know how to describe them; kinda like Bare Naked Ladies
meets the Nylons meets Weird Al Yankovic. Lots o' fun!

_Sunday Concert_ has been reissued on CD by Bear Family of Germany.
The title is now _Sunday Concert, Plus_, as the reissue contains a
couple of bonus tracks.

Lightfoot's first two albums (_Lightfoot!_ and _The Way I Feel_) have
been reissued on a 2-for-1 CD by Bear Family. _Did She Mention My
Name_ and _Back Here On Earth_ have also been reissued on a 2-for-1 CD
(with bonus tracks) by Bear Family. (I believe that the 5 albums
reissued by Bear Family are all of Lightfoot's United Artists albums.
Is this correct?)
