"Don't spread butter on the floor;
that isn't what it was made for;
spread it on the window or the door, but
don't spread butter on the floor.
"Don't poke your finger in your eye;
that will only make you cry;
point it down a well or at the sky, but
don't poke your finger in your eye."
and there were more verses.
I also remember really liking FOOBA WOOBA JOHN, but I know it wasn't
the Burl Ives version because that doesn't have all the verses I
remember.
I have a strong memory of both of these being on a Weavers or Pete
Seeger album, but can't find them listed on either one, or the title
of the first one. Can anyone help?
I'll check back here but an email response would be appreciated too.
Thanks -
John

I checked out the lyrics, and while there are similarities, it's not
the same song - it's almost as if the song I am looking for is a
parody of the Polisar song, although the song I'm talking about would
have been current sometime before 1967.
