Does anyone know the words to this song? Probably sung to the tune of
Ghost Riders in the Sky.

Here's a rough version. Not all the lyrics may be as originally written,
but they'll fit the tune - which IS "Ghost Riders in the Sky." I don't
know who wrote the lyrices. I first heard them performed on a taped
radio program which originated in Bozeman, Montana.

A chicken farmer went out to take a walk one day
He paused by the coop as he walked along his way
All at once a rotten egg hit him in the eye
It was a sight he dreaded... ghost chickens in the sky.

Chorus: ("cluck" - sort of - the melody for the first
two lines of the chorus, ending with:)
Ghost chickens in the sky

He'd been a chicken farmer since he was twenty-four
Working for the Colonel for thirty years or more
Killing all those chickens and sending them to fry
And now they want revenge...Ghost chickens in the sky

(Chorus - cluck in harmony, this time)

Their beaks were black and shiny, their eyes were firey red
They had no wings or feathers, these chickens were dead
They picked that farmer up and he died by the claw
They cooked him extra crispy and ate him with cole slaw.

(Chorus - naturally)

This is my most-requested song from my cousin's kids.

Do you want the real "Ghost Riders" or Tom Paxton's "Yuppies In The Sky"?

How about T. Paxton's "Yuppies In The Sky", too!
