Michael W. Smith Discography:
1983 Project
1984 Michael W. Smith 2
1986 The Big Picture
1987 The Live Set
1988 i2(eye)
1989 Christmas
1990 Go West Young Man
1993 Change Your World
1993 The First Decade

His album credits don't say much about his background.
From what I know, he grew up in Kenova, WV. He is about 35 years old.
His wife wrote many of the lyrics in his first album, including his most
famous song, Friends. He's known by the nickname "Smitty" among his close
friends. I believe Project and Go West Young Man have gone gold. I think
he won a grammy for Michael W. Smith 2 in the gospel music category.

See the newsgroup rec.music.christian for any information you could ever
want to know about him. Note: he's often just referred to as MWS on that
group.

If you like folk, you'll probably like i2(eye) the best.
