Sorry, I don't have the words. In my head, Harry Belafonte is singing it.
I'm not 100% sure he's ever performed it anywhere else, though.

The song is "Crooked Little Man" and was recorded by the Serendipity
Singers. The first verse as I recal it was:

There was a crooked man and he had a crooked smile
Had a crooked sixpence and he walked a crooked mile
He had a crooked cat and he had a crooked mouse
They all lived together in a crooked little house

Uh huh, oh no don't let the rain come down, etc.

If I get the chance, I'll refresh my memory off the CD and write the
lyrics here in the next day or two.

Peace!

The song was done by the Serendipity Singers, and it is called "Oh no, don't
let the rain come down." They came out during the height of the 1960's folk
music craze.

There are several Serendipity Singers CDs out, which are based upon their lps.

Lance, I only know of the greatest hits one with a VERY black/dark cover and
the group in a live shot

What are some of the other CDs?

Michael Shaffran has a copy of this album and could probably tell you if the
song in question is on it when he returns from his current Buying trip about

Don't Let the Rain Come Down (Crooked Little Man)

- Artists: The Serendipity Singers
- peak Billboard position # 6 in 1964
- Words and Music by Ersel Hickey and Ed Miller

<bongo>

CHORUS
(Ah, ah) Oh, no, don't let the rain come down
(Ah, ah) Oh, no, don't let the rain come down
(Ah, ah) Oh, no, don't let the rain come down
My roof's got a hole in it and I might drown
Oh, yes, my roof's got a hole in it and I might drown

There was a crooked man and he had a crooked smile
Had a crooked sixpence and he walked a crooked mile

Had a crooked cat and he had a crooked mouse

They all lived together in a crooked little house

CHORUS

Well, this crooked little man and his crooked little smile
Took his crooked sixpence and he walked a crooked mile
Bought some crooked nails and a crooked little bat
Tried to fix his roof with a rat-tat-tat-tat-tat <five knocks on wooden surface>

CHORUS

Now this crooked little man and his crooked cat and mouse
They all live together in a crooked little house
Has a crooked door with a crooked little latch
Has a crooked roof with a crooked little patch

CHORUS <softly>

CHORUS <loudly>
(Ah, ah) Oh, no, don't let the rain come down
(Ah, ah) Oh, no, don't let the rain come down
(Ah, ah) Oh, no, don't let the rain come down
My roof's got a hole in it (my roof's got a hole in it)
My roof's got a hole in it and I might drown

Don't Let the Rain Come Down (Crooked Little Man) by the Serendipity
Singers circa 1964

There was a crooked man, and had a crooked wife
Had a crooked sixpence, and he lived a crooked life...

And somewhere in it a verse ends with: "With a rat-tat-tat-tat-tat."
I wish I had all the lyrics, too.

I have a recording by the Serendipity Singers
(arranged and adapted by Bowers, Sennett, Madden)
I think it must have been recorded mid 1960s.
