Anybody have the lyrics to this song, by a Canadian songwriter, that appeared
on Tom Rush's "purple" album ("Tom Rush, Columbia, 1969 or 1970)?

Sorry I don't haave the lyrics. However, the author of the song is
Murray McLauchlan, a singer/songwriter who has been turning out
brilliant material for the past 30 years. If you haven't heard Murray's
own version of "Child's Song" it's worth tracking down. He does a
stunning live rendition on an album called "Only The Silence Remains"
which I believe is still available on CD.

I think I have it right but?
Tom Rush has a webb page http://www.tomrush.com/

Good-by mama good-by to ya to Pa
Little sister you'll have to wait a while to come along
Good-by to this house and all it's memories
We just got to old to say were wrong
^
Got to make one last trip to my bedroom
I guess I'll have to leave some stuff behind
It's funny how the same old crooked pictures
Just don't seem the same to me tonight

There ain't no use in shedding no more tears... mama
There ain't no use in shouting at my car
I can't live no longer with your fears mama
I love you but that hasn't helped at all

^
Each of us must do the things that matter
All of must see what we can see
Though it was long ago You must remember
You were once as young and scared as me

I don't know how hard it is yet mama
When ya realize your growing old
I know how hard it is not to be young
I know ya tried to keep me from the cold

^
Thanks for all you've done... it may sound hollow
Thank you for the good times we've known
But I must find my own road to follow
You will all be welcome in my home

I've got my suitcase... I must go now
I don't mind about the things you've said
I'm sorry mama I don't know where I'm going
Remeber little sister look ahead

^
Tomorrow I'll be in some other sunrise
And maybe I'll have someone at my side
Mama give your love back to yer husband
Father you have taught me well.... good-by

Good-by mama good-by to ya to Pa
