Could anyone tell me if the "Sandy" album by Sandy Denny is on
CD? I have all of her others on CD but have never seen this one.
I would have guessed that Hannibal/Carthage would have released
it but haven't seen it listed. Also, did Linda Thompson's solo
album "One Clear Moment" (I believe that title is correct) ever
get released on CD? Thanks in advance to anyone's help.
James

According to the Radio2/MusicMaster catalogue, "Sandy" was available on
CD and cassette at least in 1994 in the UK on Island records. Sometimes
ths catalogue does not correspnd too well to reality.

The same source does not show a CD release of "One Clear Moment". Same
caveat.

"Sandy" at least WAS available on CD on Island/UK (I know, because I have
a copy). The sound quality, btw, is stunning...blows the Hannibal US cd's
away. I don't think there's much argument that "Sandy" was her greatst
achievemnt as a solo performer; hopefully it will be pressed here sometime
soon.

I have been told that a Linda Thompson anthology will be released later
this year, to include all of "One Clear Moment" and other tracks Linda
released over the years.

And speaking of Sandy, everyone needs to run out and get "Sandy Denny,
Trevor Lucas and Friends/The Attic Tracks 1972-1984." It's on Raven
Records, and it's glorious! Among other things, it has the French version
of "Listen Listen", long-lost 45 B-sides like "Tears" (flip side of "White
Dress" single), piano-only demos of "One More Chance", "No End" and
"Rising for the Moon" (you can hear the metronome!), and live versions of
""Stranger to Himself" and "Who Knows Where the Time Goes" from Sandy's
last live appearance in 1977. Trevor's no slouch on the cd either; there's
some wonderful live things, including very touching renditions of "The
Town I Loved So Well" and Dylan's "Forever Young." Maybe best of all is a
live version of "Ballad of Ned Kelly" (from Fotheringay; you DO have that
album, right?) performed by the 1974 Fairport Nine tour (meaning Swarb,
Pegg, Jerry Donahue, etc). I would LOVE to hear a complete live set from
this timeframe, wouldn't you?

Thanks for the information. I agree. I think "Sandy" was her best
solo effort but it seems to he the hardest one to find on CD ( I
have the album). Sounds like the Island/UK version is the way to
go. I just ordered the "Sandy Denny, Trevor Lucas and
Friends/the Attic Tracks 1972-1984" CD and the 4 Attic Tapes
cassettes from FoF in Australia. I can't wait to hear them,
especially now that you have given me a preview of what's on the
CD. I do have the Fotheringay album and CD. Also, I hope you
are right on the Linda Thompson anthology. Now, is the album
"The Bunch" on CD by any chance?

It is an excellent collection of Rock standards done by some of folk's
best. Any info on it coming out on CD is most appreciated.

P.S. It is the only vynal that remains from my old collection. I can
not bear to give it up until a CD version comes out.

It feels good to know that I'm not the only person in the world who
still remembers Sandy Denny and Trevor Lucas.

Weren't they great? I have been to three Fairport Convention concerts
in December 1975, when both Sandy and Trevor were still in the band,
together with Dave Swarbrick. I think they were at their best then.

I thought my Sandy collection was complete but now I feel a sense of
panic, knowing that the 'attic' tapes & CD are available. I will order
my copy tomorrow... I can think of nothing else anymore.

Indeed, 'Sandy' has been available on CD, but it's hard to find these
days. My copy is on Island IMCD 132 (848 746-2). If you can't find it
on Hannibal USA, try ordering it from an English mail order company.

Also, I recommend the 'Sandy and the Strawbs' CD, which carries some
of Sandy's early work (1967). It's on Hannibal HNCD 1361.

And how about 'The Original Sandy Denny' CD on Mooncrest Records.
This CD aroused some controversy because it was released immediately
after Sandy's tragic death. They obviously wanted to cash in on the
publicity.
It's still very worthwile having, if you are interested in Sandy's
pre-Fairport work.

For those interested, there (was) a very rare cassette of Sandy
singing songs like 'Suzanne', partly as a duet with Ian Matthews.
It's not for sale anymore- I ordered it from an English magazine many
years ago. It did not carry any brand name or identification number.

As for 'The Bunch' on CD: No, I haven't seen it on CD. It's hard to
find, even on vinyl. I had expected it to be released on CD some years
ago, when Island/Hannibal started releasing all the other
Sandy/Faiport stuff. Unfortunately it hasn't materialized.

Would anyone with any information at all about Sandy Denny releases
please post it in this group. Thanks very much indeed!.

I have never seen "The Bunch" on CD but we can only hope it will
show up some day. Several people have indicated that it is not
on CD at this time. I remember that the album was pretty
difficult to locate in the earlier days. But, what a collection
of tunes!!

SANDY DENNY,ETC.

Hi Willem!

I have all the stuff you mention, plus Morris On,Son of Morris on,and the
Complete Dancing Master.O.k,those aren't SD material, but they give you a
taste.

I also have every track recorded by Fotheringay.

Have you heard "Heyday" by Fairport Convention? It's readily available
on CD in the Shops here in England and it includes the Denny/Matthews
"Suzanne".Amazing stuff, recorded for John Peel's BBC Radio 1 shows in
1968/1969.

Cheers for now,

Simon.

I wasn't aware of this tape, but Sandy sings a wonderful duet with Ian
Matthews called "If you saw thru my eyes" on an album of the same name.
Even if, like me, you aren't a big Ian Matthews fan, the album is worth
it just for this one song!

Funny how tastes differ. Anything with Sandy Denny on it is worth a
listen, but this particular Ian Matthews effort has long been one of
my favourite albums.

It was a bit of a Fairport reunion, with Richard Thompson on quitar.

"If You Saw Thro My Eyes" has been released on the same CD as
"Tigers Will Survive" - Vertigo 514167-2.

I'm not sure if this is the version you have in mind, but they sing it together
on Fairport Convention, "Heyday," an official release with some outstanding
cuts broadcast over the BBC 1968-69.
