I've been looking for the lyrics for a kids folk song called
"Senor Don Gato." I've found some of the lyrics at
http://pubweb.parc.xerox.com/digitrad/song=DONGATO, but I
seem to remember more verses to the song. If anyone can fill
in the gaps or make corrections, I'd appreciate it. Also if
anyone knows where this song originates, I'd like to know.

Email me directly and I'll post the results. Thanks!

Here's what I have so far:

SENOR DON GATO

Oh Senor Don Gato was a cat
On a high red roof Don Gato sat
He went there to read a letter, meow meow meow
Where the reading light was better, meow meow meow
'Twas a love note for Don Gato

"I adore you" wrote the lady cat
Who was fluffy, white, and nice and fat.
There was not a sweeter kitty, meow meow meow
In the country or the city, meow meow meow
And she said she'd wed Don Gato.

Oh, Senor Don Gato jumped with glee
He fell off the roof and broke his knee
Broke his ribs and all his whiskers, meow meow meow
and his little solar plexus, meow meow meow
"Ay carumba!" cried Don Gato.

Then the doctors all came on the run
Just to see if something could be done
And they held a consultation, meow meow meow
About how to save their patient, meow meow meow
About how to save Done Gato.

But despite of everything thing they tried
Poor Senor Don Gato up and died
(???) Oh it wasn't very pretty, meow meow meow (???)
??????????

??? Another lyric here ???

As the funeral passed the market square
Such a smell of fish was in the air
Though the funeral was slated, meow meow meow
He became re-animated, meow meow meow
He came back to life, Don Gato!

Hi! I remember this song from my childhood and just wanted to thank you
for printing the verses you remembered.

I can't help you out with the rest yet, but if you give me some time, I'll
try to contact a member of our folk group who performs a lot of children's
material to see if he knows.

Thanks again for the memories- it was about fourth grade when I first
learned this in music class at school. (Yikes- was THAT a long time ago!)
