Pat & Victoria Garvey

Does anyone remember this CA based folk duo from the late sixties. They
toured the coffee house circuit quite a bit. I saw them once in Kansas
City at The Vanguard and once in Aspen at Jake's Abbey Cellar, both great
clubs now long gone.

At any rate, they did an album or two and published a songbook. One great
song they did was an a cappella number, "Trail of Tears," about the forced
migration of the Cherokee. Anyone out there know what became of this act?

Yeah, I remember them. They did one very interesting album on Columbia (?)
and did the East Coast festival circuit in the summer of about 1968.

The act broke up along with their marriage. Pat Garvey moved back to
Seattle, where he has appeared as a solo once in a while. Don't remember
seeing his name in a few years.

Steve Goodman recorded their song 'The Lovin of the Game'. It would be
nice to see their stuff re-released. I think they were from Northern Cal

Pat & Victoria Garvey split in 1972. Pat suffered a stroke around 2005 and has since been paralyzed on one side and unable to walk or play guitar. I was married to Victoria for 42 years and we continued to play together as Don & Victoria Armstrong until her death on May 5, 2014 of recurring colon cancer. She had the voice of an angel and the ability to sing any kind of music and sing it well. And that was matched by her incredible song-writing. I miss her dearly.

I just found the record "Pat and Victoria Garvey Songs 1965-1971" at a thrift shop and bought it! I am listening to it now and OMG what voices! This album is on Mud Records. I am sorry to hear of Victoria's passing! I would have love to have met her to tell her what a beautiful voice she had!!

I was just going through some old music files and found the handwritten lyrics for "The Lovin' of the Game" on "Pat & Victoria" stationery ann"Words: Pat, Tune: Victoria".

I used to sing this song and had long forgotten where I learned it. Now, 55 years later, I have the answer.
